Duties
• Ensures the confidentiality, integrity and availability of geospatial systems, networks and data through the planning, analysis, development, implementation, maintenance and enhancement.
• Recommends ways to protect geospatial information and systems.
• Participates in implementation of geospatial systems security policies, guidelines and procedures related to applications, network, and systems designs. This includes initial design, system lifecycle change review, and configuration management.• Participates in the assessment of new geospatial systems design methodologies; identifies the need for changes based on new security technologies or threats; reviews proposed new systems, networks, and software designs for potential security risks.• Coordinates the implementation of security programs such as establishing vulnerability reporting, analysis, and action/resolution of findings to provide protection from unauthorized access, alteration, loss, disclosure, and blocking of information.• Enforces proper backup procedures for all geospatial system and network information that provide protection from unauthorized access, alteration, loss, disclosure, and blocking of information.• Develops, implements, and evaluates the security programs, including the implementation of security programs designed to anticipate, assess, and minimize system vulnerabilities such as intrusion detection or access authentication programs.• Plans and coordinates the delivery of an IT security awareness training program for end users. Institutes measures to ensure awareness and compliance; performs implementation activities; reviews and evaluates security policies.• Provides advice and instruction to employees and supervisors on security issues, establishes and maintains liaison with internal and external groups working on legal, internal audit, physical security, and other information security matters.RequirementsConditions of Employment• U.S. Citizenship is required.• Be sure to read the How to Apply and Required Documents Sections.• You cannot hold an active real estate license: nor can you have an interest or hold stocks in firms with interest in Federal Lands.• Direct Deposit Required.• Appointment will be subject to a favorably adjudicated background/suitability investigation/determination.• Your resume must contain enough information to show that you meet the qualification requirements as defined in the announcement. Experience in identifying IT problems, trends and weaknesses and recommending solutions to reduce vulnerabilities. Experience in implementing cyber security policies and procedures and evaluating information technologies.Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).
