Job Description

The New York Times Company is looking for Drivers to join the team!
The Delivery Driver is responsible for delivering the newspapers and other required products to various delivery sites primarily in the New York Metropolitan area pursuant to Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR) and all governing Company policies.
This position is a full-time role with seven-hour shift schedule that include Nights and Weekends.
Shifts:
  • Dayside shifts are 8 hours
  • Nightside shifts: 7 hours Sunday night thru Thursday night - 8 hours Friday night - 7 1/2 hours Saturday night.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform pre-trip and post -trip vehicle inspections.
  • Deliver newspapers and other products.
  • Functions will also include performance of all delivery department & production plant floor tasks as required.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required.
  • Must be able to pass a valid Department of Transportation (DOT) certificate of physical examination.
  • Must pass pre-employment and post-employment random drug and alcohol screens.
  • Must demonstrate that they can safely operate the type of vehicle that will be driven by passing a Company-administered Road test.
  • Prepare and furnish the Violation and Review Record (Record of Violations).
  • Must possess a satisfactory driving record during the preceding three years.
  • Must possess a satisfactory safety performance history with all prior DOT regulated employers during the past 10 years.
  • Must not have been convicted of a serious traffic violation, failed or refused a controlled substance/alcohol test for a prior DOT-regulated employer in the past three (3) years, have been convicted of a DUI/DWI within the past five (5) years or have accumulated a total of six (6) points on their license in the past five (5) years.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalency preferred.
This position is represented by the Newspaper Mail Delivers Union.
The rate of pay for this role is $233.50 per Shift.
