In July, Delivery Hero SE merged three of its market-leading food delivery businesses, foodora and Yemeksepeti in Europe, and foodpanda in Asia. All three businesses now make up the second-largest organization within the Delivery Hero Group, and leading food and QCommerce delivery in 18 markets in both regions.
Delivery Hero SE is seeking a Head of Tax, Europe to lead and scale our regional tax strategy and operations. As a rapidly growing region with operations in Sweden, Finland, Hungary, Austria, Czechia and Norway, we need a dynamic tax leader who can navigate the complexities of tax compliance and business needs across those jurisdictions. The Head of Tax Europe will be responsible for ensuring compliance, implementing a tax governance structure, managing tax risks and supporting & optimizing strategic business initiatives.
This role offers the opportunity to proactively participate in shaping and developing cutting-edge products and services from a tax perspective while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, innovation-driven environment.
As the Head of Tax Europe you will become an essential part of the European finance organization of Delivery Hero. Your mission:
Tax Governance:
Ensure an efficient and effective tax governance structure across the region.
Tax Compliance and Reporting:
Oversee tax compliance processes ensuring timely and accurate tax filings and reporting obligations for all jurisdictions, including corporate income tax, VAT, digital services taxes and DAC 7.
Evolve and strengthen the regional tax compliance processes in collaboration with the Group tax team as well as local finance teams and external advisors.
Tax Risk Assessment, Management and Optimization:
Oversee preparation and review of tax provisions and disclosures in the local financial statements according to local GAAP. Support the group wide Tax Risk Assessment process for the group financial statements (IFRS).
Ensure an effective tax risk management across the region and provide proactive tax optimization strategies in alignment with the company’s business goals. Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate tax risks, ensuring the company is well-positioned for changes in tax laws and regulatory environments.
Business Initiatives and Cross-functional Collaboration:
Partner closely with legal, finance, product/tech and business operations teams to drive regional business initiatives and product launches from a tax perspective. Advise proactively on the tax implications of such new business initiatives and product features.
Transfer Pricing:
Ensure compliance with local TP regulations and documentation requirements (i.e. Master/ Local File). Support implementation of TP policies, especially for new business segments.
Tax Audits and Risk Management:
Drive front facing tax audits/tax disputes and support the local team in interaction with tax authorities.
Team Leadership and Development:
Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing local and regional team, fostering innovation and continuous improvement in tax compliance and operations.
Stay up to date with trends and changes in global tax policies (i.e. DAC 7, Pillar 2) and their potential impacts on the tech industry.
Your heroic skills:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax, or a related field. Master’s degree in Tax or Law,
Certified German tax advisor (“Steuerberater”), CPA, or equivalent certification preferred.
8+ years of relevant tax experience, in tax consulting (Big Four/in-house) and corporate tax function. Previous experience in a high-growth technology or software company is highly preferred.
Demonstrated implementation experience regarding compliance processes and tax governance structures.
Deep knowledge of international tax regulations, including corporate income tax, transfer pricing, indirect taxes, and double tax treaties.
Strong understanding of GAAP/IFRS tax accounting and reporting.
Proven track record in managing tax audits and relationships with tax authorities across multiple jurisdictions.
Knowledge of tax technologies and automation tools to enhance efficiency in reporting and compliance.
Strong leadership, communication, and project management skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
