Demand Planning Analyst

Job Summary

Responsible for demand planning and related duties including supporting the Demand Planning Director/ Sales Channel Leader in developing a 24-month rolling Demand Plan at the family level. Assists in improving demand plan accuracy and eliminating bias from Demand Plans. Analyzes actual orders/shipments for alignment with approved demand plans and notifies the Demand Planning Director when a gap appears to be developing. Interacts with Sales, Marketing, Finance, and Customer Service to determine assumptions, latest market trends, and promotional activities. Actively participates in implementing a worldclass demand planning process. Maintains demand panning processes and systems, including data integrity. Actively participates in implementing new statistical forecasting software.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

The essential functions of the position include but are not limited to:

  • Developing and maintaining Sales Assumptions, Risks, and Opportunities used in 24-month rolling, aggregate Demand Plan
  • Collecting and entering allocations for promotions and displays.
  • Regular touchpoints with Sales stakeholders to gather inputs to the Demand Plan at customer/region level
  • Monthly coordination with Sales stakeholders in preparation of Demand Plan and presentation deck for the monthly Demand Review.
  • Maintaining forecast processes and systems, including data maintenance. Assist in improving existing data analysis tools.
  • Effectively documenting assumptions and analysis supporting consensus forecasts.
  • Detailed analysis of actual performance to Plan, review of assumptions and development of countermeasures.
  • Providing input in continuous improvement activities.


Other Responsibilities/ Detailed Duties

  • Monitoring Demand Plan accuracy and bias daily throughout the month, providing feedback to the Demand Planning Manager / Sales Channel Leader if Demand Plan tolerances may be exceeded, so that appropriate actions can be taken
  • Assisting in the creation of “What-if” scenarios based on price, market share, and competitive activities
  • Communicating issues in a timely and proactive way in order to smooth the demand and supply processes

Principle Relationships

Inside the company – Demand Planning team, Product Marketing, Channel Marketing, Sales Operations, Sales, Supply Chain, Integrated Reconciliation team, Finance, ABLTech

Education / Experience (minimum experience required)

  • BS/BA degree - Business or Technical, preferably in a quantitative field
  • Experience with statistical forecasting software highly desirable
  • Minimum two to three years of experience in Sales, Marketing, or Logistics, or one year with MBA
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to influence
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel skills.
