This is an exciting multi-discipline position working for a Forest Service district recreation program. The position will include assisting trail crews and staff in all matters concerning trail maintenance and sustainability. Interns will be responsible for recreation operations and planning support. Core program work will include recreation data collection, public information/education program delivery, developed recreation site operations/maintenance, cabin maintenance, trail maintenance, and road maintenance.
Interns will work with permanent and seasonal staff to engage with volunteers on trail management, design, construction, and partnerships to help develop a sustainable trails program. Other duties will include support of field operations in developed recreation, cabins, backcountry patrol, and resource programs. Interns will need to bring a positive attitude, willingness to work in inclement (wet) weather, long days and spiked out in remote field camps.
Compensation Amounts:
It is SCA's policy that all AmeriCorps-required background checks must return cleared prior to the position's start; this includes being fingerprinted for the FBI check. Otherwise, the AmeriCorps award will be removed or the position's start date will be delayed due to non-compliance.
