Development Engineer

The Development Engineer will work as a member of a project team performing technical work in the Research, Design, and Scale-Up of new products and processes for advanced manufacturing of engineered belts and paper machine clothing. The Development Engineer is actively involved in utilizing laboratory, experimental, and pilot manufacturing equipment, performing work to support objectives on a project basis. Strong problem solving, interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills are essential.

Safety and Procedures:

• Follow all publicized safety policies/procedures and JIBS applicable to the job.
• Use appropriate PPE that has been identified on the Hazard Analysis for the department/role.
• Attend and participate in all safety training, safety meetings, audits and Behavior Based Safety programs assigned.
• Report all safety hazards observed. If capable, correct the safety hazard identified.

Essential Job Functions:

• Conducts laboratory tests and/or pilot trials on multiple projects both independently and as a team member
• Designs, builds, and tests prototypes of new product and process concepts
• Produces documents, summarizes, interprets and reports technical data in support of an assigned R&D project
• Generates ideas for research or new products
• Plans, conducts, schedules, and coordinates projects
• Gains knowledge of Albany products and markets
• Uses engineering knowledge to solve practical problems
• Exercises judgment on the progress of the work and makes changes to tasks as needed
• Delivers written reports and/or oral technical presentations
• Designs custom equipment modifications and test methods for new process improvement and automation
• Develops resources inside and outside the company

Required Skills:

• 3D CAD modeling

• Demonstrated ability to actively troubleshoot equipment

• Proficient with the use of assembly tools

• Ability to work independently or as part of a team

Required Experience:

• 0-2 years' experience in technical/project work

Education Requirements:

• Bachelor Degree

• Mechanical/Industrial Engineering Discipline
