Director, Product Development

The Director of Product Development will lead our product development cycle from the ground up, overseeing everything from initial CAD designs and prototyping to final sample approval. This position requires a deep involvement in the design process, direct management of vendor relations, and a relentless focus on maintaining VRAI’s standards of quality and innovation. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in fine jewelry product development, a passion for hands-on work, and the ability to drive projects forward in a collaborative and efficient manner.

• Spearhead the product development cycle, managing CAD designs, prototypes, and ensuring timely delivery of new products in alignment with our development calendar.
• Collaborate closely with the design and merchandising teams to refine and realize product concepts, ensuring they adhere to our quality standards and cost objectives.
• Partner with the design team to explore and implement innovative product ideas and techniques.
• Act as the central point of communication between the design team, merchandising, and production vendors, ensuring seamless collaboration and alignment on project objectives and collection launches.

• A minimum of 8 years of hands-on experience in product development within the fine jewelry industry, including familiarity with made-to-order and drop-ship business models.
• Demonstrated ability to lead projects from concept to production, with a portfolio showcasing successful fine jewelry launches.
• Extensive knowledge of jewelry design, gemology and materials.
• Exceptional leadership skills, with a passion for mentoring teams and fostering collaboration across departments.
• Excellent communication skills, capable of effectively liaising with designers, merchandisers, suppliers, and craftsmen.
• A strategic and creative thinker, able to execute quickly and deliver quality solutions.
