When you join the Technology team as an Intern at DICK’S Sporting Goods, you’re joining a true team that wins together. We help our Athletes and fellow Teammates better their best by innovating solutions to interesting business problems and empowering every Technology Teammate to be an innovator. And, while our broader Technology team works remotely from all over the United States, they provide virtual and in-person events for the team to hangout, from virtual escape rooms to cheering on the Pittsburgh Pirates at beautiful PNC Park. As a DICK’S Sporting Goods Technology Intern, you will spend your Summer in Pittsburgh working at our Customer Support Center (our Corporate Office)! We follow a hybrid work schedule, in the office Tuesday – Thursday and working from home (your apartment) Monday and Friday.DSG’s Technology Interns work with and learn from the leaders who bring our vision to the Best Sports Company in the World to life. During the 11-week Summer experience, interns are assigned a strategic project that is selected by a leader on their Technology team.At the conclusion of the summer, you will present your project directly to your leadership team. As a bonus to our program, you will have regular Q&A sessions with senior leaders, take part in a visit to our multiple store banners, and interact with teammates across the organization including networking and volunteer opportunities.To support you throughout the Summer, we have built a strong support system of managers and mentors. For project guidance and day-to-day management, you will be paired with a Training Manager. Additionally, you will have status-checks and coaching from both leaders inour Technology Department and our University Relations Team. You will also have peer mentorship from Technology teammates earlier in their career. This support structure will aid in transitioning you to the DSG team, the exploration of your career goals, and will provide opportunities to develop professional and social networks within the company and the retail industry.The experiential learning you will receive enables you to rapidly become a contributing member of the team, while also focusing on your own personal development. If you join DSG, you will have the opportunity to be a part of an enthusiastic and supportive team culture, be challenged to make a meaningful difference in our business decisions, and get a peek behind the curtain of how a large company thinks about its growth strategies.As a Product Design Intern, you will look to discover, understand, and communicate user research and design practices to create intuitive, easy-to-use products. Interns will work in a fast paced, lean environment, collaborating closely with other interns, as well as full-time Product designers, product managers, and software engineers.We are looking for people with hybrid talents who can inspire design-thinking ideas that set the standard for user-centered innovation in the retail industry.Day to Day Responsibilities:• Work closely with Product designers to develop your skills to formulate strategic design decisions during all phases of the product development life cycle• Effectively balance applying creative ideation to business challenges to build intuitive, easy-to-use products• Conduct research discovery through primary and secondary methods – including, but not limited to user ecosystem mapping, interviews, journey mapping, surveys, usability testing, competitive analysis, and more• Analyze research data and articulate findings through effective storytelling amongst your technology and business partnersSome of your experiences will include:• Multi-day intern orientation to introduce you to the company, the program, Pittsburgh, and your fellow interns• Professional development workshops designed to increase your knowledge of the company and the retail industry, as well as developing your business acumen and office professionalism• Extensive exposure to our senior leadership team through our exclusive intern-only Executive Speaker Series, which includes opportunities to interact with our CTO (Vlad Rak) & CEO (Lauren Hobart)• Opportunities to “live the brand” and experience summer fun outside the office through various events• Fully furnished summer housing is provided for interns who reside outside of the Metro Pittsburgh area (or stipend for local interns)• Working 40 hours per week, Monday through FridaySkills we are looking for:• Passionate about user-centered research and design and promoting empathy and understanding when creating product experiences• Strong curiosity when it comes to using new tools, adopting new technology, and learning new Product/UXmethods that will progress your professional development• Dynamic written and verbal communication style, as well as the ability to communicate cross-functionally and vertically throughout the organization• Ability to work in a fast-paced environmentWe look for potential candidates with:• Attending an accredited university, college or technical school• A major in Design, Technology, or a related field• Anticipated graduation between December 2025 and May 2026• A digital portfolio that demonstrates user-centered research and design practices• There will be periods of time where you are asked to spend up to a week at our Corporate Office in Pittsburgh as part of the Summer Internship program. The majority of the summer and full-time roles within our Technology Department are eligible for remote work.
