Digital Managing Editor

OVERVIEW

The Digital Managing Editor is responsible for the editorial direction of digital content for CNBC International (EMEA & APAC regions). This includes the reporting and editing of text, video, and graphics on CNBC.com, the production of websites, layout of pages and creation of microsites. This role leads the International Digital teams based across Singapore, London, China, and the UAE.

Reporting to the VP, News & Partnerships, this position partners closely with editorial leaders across the business, including the VP, Events & Programming, and the Heads of TV News, APAC & EMEA, to drive cross-platform, cross-region collaboration between the Digital and TV teams. The Digital Managing Editor will oversee editorial coordination for the Digital team with Marketing, Ad Sales, Business Development and Product Development teams in the US and support the VP, News & Partnerships to build, develop and execute upon digital product and editorial strategies.

This is a fixed-term contract role.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee the editorial direction of CNBC.com’s International homepage and website, driving the editorial agenda to the highest standard to super serve our audience
  • Coordinate digital news coverage with our Asia and Europe newsrooms, aligning with CNBC’s strategic objectives whilst also recognising the individuality of our International markets
  • Lead International Digital (CNBC.com) based across Singapore, London, China, and the UAE.
  • Drive the expansion of CNBC’s direct-to-consumer digital products and newsletter strategy
  • Coordinate with CNBC.com teams and digital development teams based in the US
  • Partner with the International Commercial teams and Global Ad Sales to help monetise our digital assets across CNBC International
  • Coordinate with Global Ad Sales on sponsored special reports and microsites
  • Work with Software Development, IT and Data Teams to ensure smooth production
  • Understand and use analytics to improve and strengthen CNBC.com’s position as the number 1 financial news website
  • Oversee localisation of content for CNBC’s mobile apps, breaking news alerts across products
  • Responsibility for CNBC international’s newsletter strategy

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Experience of production and management of business news for web. Previous experience of working in a global organization, across multiple geographies
  • Proven track-record of producing creative, innovative business news content for the web
  • Experience overseeing all aspects of business news: editorial planning, writing, editing and production
  • Outstanding editorial judgment, including exceptional understanding and knowledge of business and finance (across the world with specific expertise in Asian and European markets)
  • Excellent communicator
  • Creative thinker; able to generate new ideas/concepts and execute them
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate teams
  • Knowledge of digital media technology and businesses
  • Deep understanding of CNBC’s practices and editorial procedures
  • Understanding of linear and non-linear video production
