Digital Marketing Manager

Reporting to the Director of Digital Subscriber Acquisition, the Digital Marketing Manager, would primarily be responsible for executing, briefing, deploying, monitoring and optimizing subscriber acquisition campaigns across digital marketing channels.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is between 80,000 and 95,000 annually. Individual base pay may vary within that range depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, relevant education, department equity, training, geography and local wage and hours laws.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Deploying outbound campaigns across email, SEM (Google Ads), paid social (Facebook Business Manager, Twitter, etc), display retargeting and content marketing networks (e.g. Taboola, Outbrain).
  • Assisting with and overseeing backend operational activities using various tools to submit tickets, QA, and set up of necessary campaign components.
  • Help manage the collective onsite customer acquisition tactics via the paywall, onsite marketing solutions and house advertising inventory.
  • Develop marketing and creative angles, themes and messaging for the marketing slate/calendar.
  • Compose creative briefs for the development of marketing materials for sales channels.
  • Monitor and report on performance of digital marketing campaigns, using data from ad platforms for reporting views, often presented in spreadsheets and decks, pulling in campaign data from advertising, analytics and customer data platforms to analyze, interpret and present campaign/acquisition learnings.
  • Experience implementing campaigns with A/B and multivariate testing of creative, landing pages, media buying and audience targeting.
  • Managing vendors who support various marketing/acquisition channels.
  • Manage collaborative efforts of digital projects from creation through implementation to ensure accurate, efficient, scalable execution.
  • Stays in touch with the industry’s best practices and uses the practices to improve the productivity of programs used in each of the McClatchy markets.
  • Develop marketing campaigns to assist in building top-of-funnel leads, acquiring digital subscriptions, and building brand loyalty
  • Other duties as assigned by management

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • An understanding of audience trends and digital media.
  • Understanding of how to use digital campaign performance metrics such as subscriber conversion, cost per acquisition, cost per click, page views.
  • Time management and ability to set priorities.
  • Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, and team player skills. Excellent communication and active listening skills.
  • Ability to interact professionally and build relationships with team members.
  • Computer proficiency (MS Office, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Ability to occasionally work a flexible schedule.
  • Must be able to work remotely while contributing to a team environment
  • Regular and reliable attendance.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) from four-year college or university; preferably in marketing, or the equivalent education, experience, skills and knowledge needed to perform the tasks and responsibilities of the position.
  • Three years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
