Position Summary:

The Director, Travel Platform – Travel Ancillaries will primarily manage our global Reservation System development and integration project that will transform the commercial capabilities of RCG. This position will provide day to day leadership for this core project and represent the interests of the business unit across all RCG brands. Proactively collaborates internally and externally to solve technical and business problems. The Director will be a point of escalation for team members and a key point of contact for business leadership.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Understand program stakeholder goals and expectations and assess impact on the business objectives

  • Ensure successful delivery of overall program and of interrelated projects per defined strategy, timeline, and budget

  • Collaborate with the executive program sponsor(s) to define program metrics, consolidation of individual project metrics, and publish the value realized for programs after implementation

  • Develop strategies to anticipate future market/commercial changes and assess the likely impact on this project

  • Develop strategy to mitigate overall exposure and risk for program. Ensure all risks and issues are being actively addressed to avoid negative outcomes

  • Oversee bringing together functional experts that will be seconded to project to ensure business alignment

  • Assess program performance, risks, issues, and impact on solution delivery commitments, client relationships, etc., and escalate to the Steering Committee and executive leadership team

  • Work closely with Business Leads and Executives to make governance decisions and identify action items

  • Identify, raise, and drive closure of program issues and mitigation of risks

  • Proactively and accurately manage project financials to meet department planning, forecasting, and reporting deadlines

  • Oversee the strategy development for ancillary revenues: air, car, hotel, transfers

Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills:


  • Knows our business and the mission-critical technical and functional skills needed to do the job; understands various types of business propositions and understands how our cruise business operates in general; learns new methods and technologies easily.

  • Brings extensive background of successfully overseeing similar sized or larger global delivery of IT projects.

  • Constantly seeking out new operating tools, methods and procedures that are applicable to the business - a willingness to take a fresh look at an entrenched procedure and search for a “better” answer, relentlessly focused on continuous improvement

  • Accustomed to managing organizations that are delivering a mix of consulting, systems integration and cloud/managed services solutions

  • Proven track record of building trust/credibility with C-level client stakeholders

  • Enhances the overall commercial mindset of the delivery organization and drives a consultative approach, to help shape agenda, and then implements the necessary technology solutions

  • Collaborative leadership style in partnering with peers to achieve the overall objectives

  • Strong executive presence & high energy, with the ability to galvanize a large and distributed team

  • Maneuvers well to get things done in a large/complex/matrix organization

  • An intelligent and articulate leader who can relate to and motivate people at all levels of an organization

  • A decisive individual with a “big picture” perspective with an inclination towards action, possesses ability to anticipate business and competitive trends and to respond effectively to take advantage of opportunities

  • A proven change agent who can motivate and stretch an organization to achieve stronger results without breaking it

  • Possesses strong business acumen; results-oriented, well-organized and self-directed individual with a strong work ethic and willingness to commit to achieving plan objectives

  • Brings excellent judgment and problem-solving skills to analyze and interpret complex situations and prioritize a variety of opportunities to maximize resources and impact

  • Entrepreneurial spirit with a team orientation and an ability to appropriately delegate responsibility and authority, balanced with an understanding and willingness to be hands-on

  • Strong oral and written communication skills - expresses thoughts clearly and forcefully, but with tact and sensitivity to alternative points of view; ability to listen to investors, board members, customers, employees, customers, etc. with an open mind to gain broad perspective on issues

  • Experience in Global Distribution Systems preferably Sabre or Amadeus. Understands the changing dynamics in the travel distribution landscape.

  • Prior experience in OTAs, Cruise lines, airlines or hotel distribution and operations
