Position Vacancy Announcement

Florida A&M University's Office of Strategic Planning, Analysis, and Institutional Effectiveness is pleased to announce the acceptance of qualified applications for the Director of Institutional Research vacancy.

Responsibilities

The incumbent in this position supports the Associate Vice President of Institutional Research and Analytics in the management of the Office of Institutional Research and Analytics (OIRA), and represents the Associate Vice President as assigned; Works collaboratively with, and provides leadership to, a team with varying skill levels and skill sets; Supports and ensures individual members of the team have training and professional development opportunities; Sets priorities and timelines for projects, and coordinates allocation of OIRA resources to make sure projects are completed with high quality and in a timely manner; Seeks out alliances with business units and colleges to ensure collaboration and operational reporting needs are met; Works with OIRA team members and functional units to troubleshoot data in the ERP and census data files for data integrity and accuracy before data are submitted to the System Office and distributed to campus stakeholders; Provides data to campus stakeholders, the state, and federal agencies (state file reporting, IPEDS, US News, AAUP, Times Higher Education, NC-SARA...); Designs and conducts research and analytical studies on topics requested by campus stakeholders; Prepares and revises reports with accompanying tabular, graphic, statistical content, descriptions of analytical methods used, and narrative of findings and conclusions; Provides support for the development of analytic tools (e.g., dashboards) for distribution to stakeholders throughout the university; Performs other duties as required or deemed appropriate to the accomplishment of the responsibilities and functions of the Office of Institutional Research and Analytics

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in the appropriate area of specialization and eight years of related experience; or master's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and six years of related experience.

Recommended Competencies

Demonstrated experience with student-related modules (admissions, enrollment, degrees, financial aid...) of a major ERP (Banner, Colleague, Workday...) Experiene working with PeopleSoft;
Ability to interpret academic program requirements and provide guidance;
Ability to understand various data measures, types, and processes and how to integrate and improve data;
Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing;
Ability to function independently with minimal supervision;
Knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply related federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, rules, and regulations;
Knowledge of the concept, principles, and practices of management;
Ability to develop and implement policies, procedures, goals, and objectives;
Ability to prioritize, organize and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously;
Ability to strategically plan and serve as a catalyst for organizational change, cultivate a shared vision with others, and motivate others to transfer an idea into action; and
Knowledge of and the ability to interpret and apply related university policies, procedures, principles, and practices.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in data analytics, educational research, or a quantitative field;
Minimum six years of experience in institutional research or a related area; and
Minimum three years of experience in supervising and developing staff, with demonstrated success in leadership positions.

Pay Plan

This is an Administrative and Professional (A&P) position.

Conditions of Employment
