The right candidate for this role is a media enthusiast and strategically creative leader with significant, senior-level experience and success in communications and public relations who can lead the COE in support of Delta's business goals, brand, reputation, and culture. The role is Atlanta-based.

Specifically, the Director of PR and Brand Reputation leads a center of excellence for Corporate Communications and Delta with outstanding capabilities and deep consumer PR, media relations, issues management and crisis response expertise. This includes:

  • Developing, evolving and socializing best practices to inform and elevate media strategies that expand Deltas reputation as the leading airline and a trusted lifestyle brand
  • Amplifying and extending the reach of strategic announcements and key narratives
  • Fostering and maintaining media relationships
  • Extending the reach of Deltas brand through new and targeted media verticals including consumer, entertainment, food & beverage, diversity and more
  • Facilitating executive and spokesperson media training
  • Protecting the brand through day-to-day issues and nourishing a service mindset to 24/7/365 media response and engagement
  • Ensuring world-class crisis response communications preparedness
  • Providing strategic vision and professional growth opportunities for a team of skilled communications professionals

What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)

  • A history of media relations successes
  • Ability to move seamlessly between big strategic thinking and tactical execution and juggle multiple, sometimes competing priorities, to set a vision and guide the team toward implementation
  • Experience acting as strategic counsel to and fostering constructive relationships with individuals at all levels including senior level executives, peers, and frontline employees; Ability to engage and build relationships across multiple departments to ensure alignment
  • Diplomacy, positivity, keen problem-solving, critical thinking, and the ability to receive and deliver constructive criticism
  • Strong team orientation and relationship-building skills; predisposition to seek and integrate diverse viewpoints
  • Honesty, integrity, respectfulness, perseverance, and people-focused leadership along with the ability to foster these core Delta values to bring out the best in team members
  • Passion for measurement and analysis to drive results and prioritize work
  • Excellent verbal and writing capabilities, storytelling expertise in multiple mediums
  • Minimum of 15 years' experience in Corporate Communications, Public Relations and/or Marketing Communications, including day-to-day relationships with Senior Executives, people management and managing a budget
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook is essential
  • Travel required
  • Must be performing satisfactorily in present position
  • Where permitted by applicable law, must have received or be willing to receive the COVID-19 vaccine by date of hire to be considered for U.S.-based job, if not currently employed by Delta Air Lines, Inc.
