About the Role:

This role presents an excellent opportunity to work on a variety of lending products including consumer loans, lines of credit, & tax refund lending, as well as developing new product offerings. This is a self-driven role providing support to our stakeholders about lending economics, analytics, & product development to ensure success.

The analytical focus and underwriting skills will be combined with creative problem solving as we are constantly exploring new data sources and solutions to comprehensively understand our customers' needs and preferences. All towards managing the acceptable credit risk and results for our products and partners. The role requires collaboration with our data analytics team, risk, compliance, technology teams and 3rd party vendors to develop and deploy effective underwriting criteria.

What You Will Do:

  • Lead efforts to innovate, analyze and make recommendations to mitigate risk and optimize the credit underwriting strategy.
  • Use analytical techniques to develop insights from historical loan performance data, identify swap-in opportunities to underwrite new customer populations and develop better credit solutions to our existing customer base, with a keen eye towards the expected vs. actual Risk Adjusted Returns produced.
  • Manage, document and create credit risk policy for consumer lending portfolio.
  • Monitor and evaluate performance of loan portfolio by utilizing various statistical and analytical techniques, tools, and benchmarking to proactively identify risks and opportunities.
  • Develop underwriting strategies to maximize profitability while remaining within the banks risk appetite.
  • Analyze opportunities for new product opportunities and provide analytical support for prioritization decisions and ultimately the growth strategy for the company.
  • Partner with the Legal, Compliance and Credit Governance team to ensure all strategies and policies are accurately documented and comply with all applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with vendors and technology teams to ensure new strategies and models are implemented accurately and as designed.
  • Conduct other ad hoc analyses as required to support the Credit Team's goals.

What You Will Need:

  • 10 plus years of experience in credit risk management, preferably in the consumer credit industry; Bachelor's degree in. Statistics, Math, Economics, Finance or equivalent experience
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, combined with solid business acumen
  • Exceptional written and communication skills, and ability to explain complex insights to a range of audiences
  • Self-driven, with intense focus on results
  • Strong team player and comfortable interacting with partners across areas and at varying levels of seniority
  • Strong technical skills such as SAS, SQL, R/Python, and ability to independently access and analyze relational data sets
  • Knowledge and experience with statistical analysis techniques, customer segmentation and credit bureau data.
  • Experience with automated decision engine software, including strategy and custom scorecard implementations.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment
