Director, Data Analytics and BI Services (Veterans Affairs)

Responsibilities…

• Oversee activities of Data Analytics and BI programs by leveraging and delegating to a team of strong second-tier managers and will direct the alignment, adoption, and integration of these disciplines in support of the mission, vision, and strategies of our organization.

• Lead efforts around customer intake and outreach, platform demos and training, and platform features related to data analytics and business intelligence capabilities.

• Provide thought leadership and subject matter expertise in support of the people, process, and technology employed by the business for consuming, analyzing, and using relevant data and for addressing the business’ key initiatives and issues

• Establish best practices and standards for data management, data integration, data warehousing, business intelligence, analytics and data governance

• Oversee the analytics function, including data analytics and data science and sets strategic priorities for the function and identifies new business opportunities based on data.

• Proactively and regularly provide guidance on where and how analytics can generate business impact/value.

• Identify Challenges across business and find solutions with using data and analytics.

• Communicate with non-technical users about the impact of complex analysis on key performance indicators (KPIs) of the business

• Drive initiatives for data accuracy, usability, availability, and efficiency for BI and analytics applications.

• Work with enterprise-wide business and IT senior management to understand and prioritize data and analytics requirements.

• Guide performance optimization of enterprise data and analytics tools and applications

• Understand and enhance the existing Data Literacy curriculum for coaching and training customers in the use of business intelligence tool to enhance business decision making capability

• Promote and evangelize the value of BI, analytics to all level of business users and end customers.

• Interface across the Business Units and work closely with Business Development, Capture, Proposal, and Operations personnel to recommend appropriate technology and business solutions for existing customers and new customers aligned to opportunities that expand the current base of business.

• Be the business and technical face to external customers and partners positioning Octo as the first choice in strategic data analytics services and solutions.

• Serve as a change agent to create a more collaborative and information sharing culture.

• Assist in strategic proposal development and reviews.

Requirements:

• Expertise in data and analytics for a mid-large size company.
• Must have previous experience in government contracting or supporting government organizations.
• Expertise in Data Science, Data Engineering, data modeling, both logical and physical.
• Experience working with unstructured and structured data.
• Experience working with clinical data or clinical data analytics.
• Prefer knowledge of Machine Learning algorithms, tools and technologies.
• Prefer knowledge of Natural Language Processing (NLP) methods and tools.
• Prefer experience working with Predictive Modeling tools and technologies.
• Knowledge of Visualization tools and technologies including Power BI and/or other business intelligence tools.
• Experience leading teams towards a common goal of successful project completion on schedule.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation abilities.
• Experience in vendor management, RFPs and budget management.
• Extensive experience interacting with high level government executives.

Desired Skills:

• Demonstrated experience in the use of Scrum and Agile methodology and processes.
• Prefer certification in project or program management.
• Prefer experience working with Databricks, Azure Machine Learning, R, and Python

Years of Experience: At least 10+ years related experience in data analytics including leadership and project/program management experience. Strongly prefer previous experience at the Director level.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering or related field. Masters degree strongly preferred.

Location: Remote within U.S.

Clearance: Ability to obtain a Public Trust security clearance.
