JOB SUMMARY
Job Profile Summary

To provide leadership and guidance for the Flight Department in order to assure safe, efficient and timely air transportation for company employees and representatives, and their associates.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Verify that the company pilots, as well as all contract pilots, are in compliance with Federal Aviation Administration Regulations, and are qualified and adept at operating the company aircraft.
  • Prepare annual operating budget, which includes all operating expenses. Monitor operating budget on a monthly basis.
  • Inform and advise management regarding the status and requirements of the aircraft and all other equipment necessary to provide optimum flight services for the company and its associates.
  • Establish and maintain records as required by the Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) and the aircraft manufacturer to ensure the aircraft is in compliance with all applicable Service Bulletins (SB) and Aircraft Directives (AD). Monitor electronic maintenance records maintained by outside services.
  • Coordinate aircraft maintenance efficiently so as not to interfere with flight operations.
  • Before each flight ensure all preflight inspections are performed. Verify aircraft databases are current. Review weight and balance, fuel on board and aircraft performance.
  • Prepare flight plans and evaluate weather conditions at destination as well as in route, to ensure optimum safety. Make competent, well-informed decisions whether or not to proceed as planned, divert, delay or cancel flights.
  • Coordinate aircraft handling and fueling with Fixed Based Operators (FBO).
  • Keep informed of the latest developments within the business aviation community, including the FAR, and all other Federal, State, Local and Foreign Regulations affecting flight operations.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to flight department personnel to ensure they maintain optimum performance and proficiency. Ensure that personnel are knowledgeable and in compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Establish policies and procedures for pilots, to ensure they maintain exceptional knowledge and training to make competent, well-informed decisions. This would include initial training and recurrent training.
  • Establish and monitor security procedures to protect the aircraft and company facilities.
  • Ensure exemplary customer service is provided to all passengers.
  • Responsibilities may include Department of Transportation (DOT) covered functions, including operations, maintenance, or emergency response on a pipeline. Job duties also require the employee to be alert and respond immediately to dangerous or hazardous conditions, and where impaired performance, or failure to follow safety precautions, could result in serious injury or property damage.
Education
  • Bachelor's Degree
Work Experience
  • Must have logged a minimum of 3,000 flight hours with 500 flight hours in multi-engine aircraft required
  • Must have logged 500 hours as Pilot in Command (PIC) in turbine-powered aircraft required
  • Must meet all currency requirements regarding instrument flight time and night landings required
  • Challenger 300/350 type rating required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to: communicate effectively with flight department personnel, company employees and their associates.

  • Ability to: communicate effectively with Flight Service (FS) and Air Traffic Control (ATC).
Licenses and Certifications
  • Hold an Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate with appropriate type ratings required
  • Pass an annual First Class FAA physical required
  • Be able to pass an instrument competency check in the category of aircraft to be flown required
