Procore’s Global Talent Organization (GTO) is looking for a Director Employee Relations and HR Compliance to join our team and further strengthen our strong culture. In this newly created role, you will build and maintain a comprehensive view of Procore’s HR compliance and employee relations landscape and implement and manage an integrated approach to HR compliance and employee relations, including building awareness, training, policy and process alignment, and direct issue management. The primary mission of the role is to build and implement scalable solutions to help employees and managers throughout multiple U.S. and international locations while navigating workplace situations to reach consistent, equitable, and effective outcomes.

This position reports to the Vice President of Talent Business Partners and Employee Relations and partners closely with the GTO Leadership Team and Procore’s Litigation, Employment Law, and Ethics & Compliance functions. The role can be based remotely or based in one of Procore’s US office locations. We’re looking for someone to join us immediately.

What you’ll do:

  • Develop, manage, and guide processes on employee relations issues, ensuring objective investigation, providing counsel to the HR team on effective documentation, and providing recommendations on practical solutions/corrective policy and actions to mitigate recurrence
  • Serve as the primary investigator for complex employee relations concerns and matters that are reported through our EthicsPoint hotline; serve as a point of contact for handbook and HR policy interpretations and implementation
  • Implement and develop a global investigation process and provide investigatory support for employment litigation
  • Partner with HR leadership on the development and revision of policies, including managing annual handbook/HR policy revisions to comply with changing legislation and creating handbooks for new locations
  • Support and mentor Talent Generalists, Talent Business Partners, and managers with regard to investigations, employee conflicts, performance management processes, disciplinary counseling, corrective actions, involuntary exits (including creating templates and procedures for restructuring), and other employee-related matters to successful resolution
  • Proactively identify and monitor risks within employee relations investigations, and provide guidance on workable risk mitigation solutions to the business
  • Support employee relations/HR compliance workstream efforts on all merger and acquisition deals, including due diligence, integration planning, and integration execution
  • Liaise with leadership in HR, legal, and management to make sure leaders are aware of potential compliance issues as well as the recommended remediation
  • Serve as a trusted advisor in the employee experience by building and facilitating people relations and compliance processes that emphasize fair, consistent, and respectful outcomes
  • Provide subject matter expertise to Talent Development and other HR functions for manager training on a variety of HR compliance policies and people issues, which may include privacy, diversity & inclusion, workplace accommodations, wage and hour training, and time away policies
  • Partner closely with Talent Business Partners, Talent Development, and Talent Operations to design and implement scalable solutions that build management and HR awareness of (i) the compliance and employee relations environment in all locations and (ii) employee relations techniques, corrective action, and performance management best practices
  • Ensure required compliance training is launched and tracked according to local requirements
  • Design and manage the employee relations case management system to review and track case intake and progress
  • Identify trends and generate reporting along with systematic improvement recommendations for HR, managers, and executive leadership
  • Implement and oversee processes for compliance with policy and legal obligations with regard to documenting the interactive process with applicants and employees requesting reasonable accommodations due to disability/medical and religious beliefs and practices

What we’re looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required
  • 10+ years of experience in employee relations gained, ideally, at a SaaS or other high-growth technology company
  • JD degree with experience in employment law/litigation is preferred
  • Subject matter expert on all things employee relations with expertise in employee relations, conflict resolution, performance management, and more
  • Proven ability to develop, train, and mentor talent (e.g., developing HR professionals and managers who are early in their careers)
  • Strong team player with a track record of building and maintaining relationships across multiple (and often senior) stakeholders
  • Independent, resourceful problem-solver–when you encounter a problem, you step back and look for solutions, leveraging the information and people around you to make the best decision, including:
    • Operating with a sense of urgency/a self-starter who thinks ahead
    • Leveraging knowledge of the business to develop solutions balancing business needs with organizational risk
    • Synthesizing complex or diverse information to identify trends and develop proactive solutions to minimize risks to the business
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills and the ability to both influence and actively listen
  • Demonstrate excellent discretion, professionalism, confidentiality, and judgment paired with excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

Additional Information

Base Pay Range $160,800-$221,100. Eligible for Bonus Incentive Compensation. Eligible for Equity Compensation. Procore is committed to offering competitive, fair, and commensurate compensation, and has provided an estimated pay range for this role. Actual compensation will be based on a candidate’s job-related skills, experience, education or training, and location.
