The Director of Human Resources-Operations is responsible for establishing, directing and managing the Human Resource functions within a multi-program manufacturing site. Plays key role by providing both practical and strategic support to include: Positive Employee Relations culture, staffing, compensation & benefits, time keeping, employee communications, employee activities, recognition, performance management, training & development, organizational effectiveness and labor relations.
Ensures achievement of strategies/objectives by providing HR leadership that delivers innovative, value-added counsel and services that facilitate the attraction, retention, and development of employees. Supports and promotes the mission and vision of the organization through the alignment of the Human Resources Departmental goals with organization-wide goals and objectives.
Responsible for leading and developing the HRBP Team.
Essential Functions (Primary Responsibilities):
- Ensure the optimal coordination of all HR Operation related activities in relation to the site activities and North American Region HR initiatives, in support of Airbus business objectives.
- Responsible to liaise with European and Canadian HR counterparts ensuring optimal relationships and open communication.
- Design, implement and maintain a positive employee relations culture, to ensure employee preference towards a non-union workplace.
- Ensure proper management of expat onboarding and repatriation.
- Responsible to set up and implement a technical training structure for hard/soft skills needed for all profiles.
- Accountable for budget items for assigned areas of responsibility.
- Ensure the implementation of a tool based process for Payroll, Time Management, Benefits, Reporting & Performance Management.
- Develop organization strategies by identifying and researching HR issues, contributing information, analysis and recommendations to organization strategic thinking and direction.
- Support development of talent management strategies, which will enhance employee engagement and mitigate future talent gap; make recommendations regarding key hiring decisions within the business.
- Guide management and employee actions by researching, developing, writing and updating policies, procedures, methods and guidelines; Communicate and enforce organizational values. Ensure a fair and consistent interpretation and application of Company policies, practices and procedures that create and maintain a people first culture.
- Maintain employee relations, respond to employee concerns and conduct investigations, to resolve matters and follow up on those concern.
- Provide leadership to management and HR Business Partner employees in all areas of performance management. Processes include goal and objective setting, performance reviews, individual development, performance improvement and corrective action plans.
- Foster change leadership, act as an HR brand ambassador and drive valued culture in conjunction with diversity and inclusion. Must be an ambassador of company culture and drive initiative to constantly build and improve.
- Support organization's wage and salary programs and wage survey processes.
- Provides day-to-day supervision and guidance to HR staff in the development and dissemination of successful practices of consistent, accurate and efficient delivery of HR consulting practices at the facility.
- Provide timely guidance and feedback to help others strengthen specific knowledge/skill areas needed, to accomplish tasks/goals or solve a problem.
- Develop and use collaborative relationships to facilitate the accomplishment of work goals.
- Partner/collaborate with the leadership team to align and execute HR strategies in support of business objectives in all business locations including internationally.
- Site responsibility for Part 145 Designated Employee Representative.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in conferences and educational opportunities; reading of professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
- Participate in special projects, as assigned.
Qualifications/Basic Job Requirements (Skills needed):
- 10+ years of HR experience
- A proven track record of success in a U.S. manufacturing environment.
- Highly proficient written and spoken English, (German or French language skills advantageous).
- Advanced knowledge and experience of Microsoft Office/Google Suite applications.
- Working knowledge of current Employment Law e.g. FMLA, FLSA etc. HR Management, Hiring, Developing Standards, Foster Team work, Promoting Process Improvement, Building Relationships.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize workload.
- Ability to exhibit a high level of confidentiality due to sensitive nature of position.
Education/Special Qualifications (schooling, certifications):
- Studies with business, management or Labor Law, preferred
- SHRM certification a plus
- Bachelor's Degree

- Vision: Adequate to enter and read material on computer screens. Able to observe manufacturing operations including equipment as well as individual tasks.
- Hearing: Able to hear sufficiently to engage in conversation in office settings and on the production floor and flight line. Able to hear safety alerts and warning signals.
- Speaking: Able to engage in conversations in person and via electronic means and deliver information to groups of varying size with or without amplification.
- Equipment Operation: Able to operate a wide range of personal and office electronic equipment as well as production-related tools and equipment including hydraulic lifts and power drills, etc.
- Carrying: Able to occasionally carry up to 50lbs/22kg which engaging in training, addressing production issues or as part of continuous improvement projects.
- Lifting: Able to occasionally lift up to 50lbs/22kg.
- Pushing/Pulling: Able to push/pull items on production and in office areas.
- Sitting: Able to sit for extended periods of time at the computer, in meetings and observing production processes.
- Squatting/Kneeling: Able to occasionally squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items shelved on bottom shelves.
- Standing: Able to stand for extended periods of time, often on concrete floors observing production operations or delivering information.
- Travel: Able to travel overseas and domestically sometimes for extended periods of time, at short notice.
- Walking: Able to walk through office and production areas, around flight line and airstrips and sometimes on uneven indoor and/or outdoor surfaces.
