About the Role:

The Director, Indirect Procurement is responsible for leading the planning and execution of key procurement strategies, primarily focused on Logistics and Information Technology and the impact on all corporate functions. Ensure effective use of budgets in the spend areas of responsibility and continue to drive savings, value, and further efficiencies. Net contributor to EBIT and generator of savings to drive top line growth.

Lead in the ongoing development of the company-wide procurement category strategies, plan and execute against these strategies, and measure and monitor vendor and strategy performance. Partner with all levels of leadership cross-functionally to build impactful, efficient, and cost-effective business and vendor relationships. Take ownership of key spend areas, implementing controls and procedures to support, and driving cost conscious culture. Total spend responsibility is approximately $180MM.


Key Responsibilities:

Lead, develop and manage sourcing and vendor management strategies across the Logistics and IT functions to deliver value. Take full independent ownership for procurement across the following Indirect functions:

  • Partner with relevant stakeholders (both local and global) to fully leverage all opportunities from Heineken category spend
  • Monitor and analyze trends and market conditions for the present and future pricing, availability and capacity of goods and services
  • Monitor and analyze trends in company spending and make recommendations for future investments while identifying possible savings opportunities
  • Prepare, lead and execute tenders
  • Negotiate with prospective vendors on matters of price, scope and performance, to secure the best overall value to Heineken
  • Contract with vendors in order to secure optimal terms and conditions in tandem with Legal

Manage and develop vendors to drive value and innovation:

  • Form strong relationships with vendor partners
  • Lead vendor performance reviews
  • Define apply and monitor commercial terms, SLAs, KPIs, etc.
  • Lead resolution of any escalation of issues with vendors
  • Be disruptive and challenge the status quo while mitigating risk

Exercise strong Business Partnering skills:

  • Build and sustain effective stakeholder relationships with Senior Management and local Leadership Team members as a trusted advisor and consultant
  • Liaise with Global and Americas Regional Procurement teams on regional and global initiatives representing Heineken USA’s interest
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure business needs are being addressed
  • Act as escalation point and subject matter expert for both internal and external parties

System And Process Management:

  • Oversee the completion of projects and enhancements related to the source to contract processes.
  • Enforce adherence to global, regional or local standards, where applicable
  • Oversee the establishment, creation and distribution of metrics and reports relating to the procurement function
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements; design and oversee / implement these improvements as required
  • Originate new concepts and innovative approaches for the organization

Basic Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Finance, Business, or a related field
  • 7-10 years of Indirect procurement experience, with at least 2 years of procurement in Logistics (ocean & ground transportation, warehousing, customs, etc..) including all elements of strategy and execution
  • Proven in-depth knowledge of sourcing and procurement principles and best practices
  • Experience with procurement systems and familiarity with source to pay technical platforms
  • Proven experience cultivating relationships with all levels of the organization and adding value as a trusted business partner
  • Ability to drive agendas and influence large groups as well as in one-to-one conversations
  • Experience working with cross functional teams and demonstrated leadership regardless of role or direct reporting line
  • Willingness to travel quarterly travel globally and/or regionally

Compensation Information

Base Salary Range: $150,000 - $185,000
