We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join Kite as a Director of Corporate Development – Portfolio Strategy Analytics (PS&A). Reporting to the Executive Director of Portfolio Strategy Analytics, the Director will support portfolio strategy and analytics for Kite. Specifically, this person will support portfolio planning, product teams to evaluate asset level decisions and contribute to disease-area strategy trade-off analysis. Examples of deliverables include, but are not limited to, supporting the achievement of corporate goals, portfolio planning, and providing subject matter expertise in decision quality to support portfolio decision-making and governance committees.

To create a deep partnership with stakeholders and leaders, as well as to foster mentorship and career development for our team members, we would like this Director to be based in our state-of-the-art Santa Monica, CA global headquarters and will offer a comprehensive relocation package as needed.

Responsibilities of the Director of Corporate Development – Portfolio Strategy Analytics (PS&A):

  • PS&A business partner to multiple product teams and/or cross functional program teams to frame and assess strategic options, probability of technical and regulatory success (PTRS), and analyses supporting key decision points.

  • Support recommendations that consider portfolio-level trade-offs to create alignment with corporate strategic goals.

  • Facilitate the probability of technical and regulatory success (PTRS) process for sup-ported teams and generate decision-relevant investment metrics (e.g., financial valuations).

  • Provide diverse and creative insights into the overall Kite portfolio that guide near and long-term planning.

  • Work with a cross functional team and senior stakeholders to define, create, lead, and strengthen strategic portfolio processes and reviews.

  • Cultivate creative and dependable improvements in Kite's decision support capabilities, including analytical and facilitative capabilities.

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree with 8+ years of Corporate Development and/or Market Research experience

OR

Master’s degree with 10+ years of Corporate Development and/or Market Research experience

OR

Bachelor’s degree with 12+ years of Corporate Development and/or Market Research experience

OR

Associate degree with 14+ years of Corporate Development and/or Market Research experience

OR

High School Diploma / GED and 16+ years of Corporate Development and/or Market Research experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree a plus (e.g., MBA, PhD) and scientific background preferred.

  • Working knowledge of the pharmaceutical/biotech landscape, R&D trends, decision analysis, business strategy and markets in major disease areas (exceptional candidates from outside of life sciences may be considered).

  • Experience influencing senior leaders and teams through communication and facilitation skills.

  • Dedicated experience in strategic roles in a pharma / biotech or consulting.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead across a matrixed cross functional team consisting of representatives from R&D through commercial and other functions across the value chain

  • Thorough analytical skills, including quantitative modeling and complex problem-solving ability.

  • Deep knowledge of Net Present Value assessment and decision analysis is preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability framing and solving complex problems and the critical thinking ability to interpret effectively.

  • Support portfolio reviews and recommendations to the executive portfolio committee.

  • Detail-oriented organizational and communication skills including experience presenting to an executive audience.

  • Key team member direction, collaboration, relationship building and interpersonal skills.

  • Demonstrated thoughtful and open-minded curiosity with a patient-centric mindset.

  • Adaptability within a collaborative, agile environment.

  • Ability to work autonomously and under minimal supervision.

The salary range for this position is: $195,245.00 - $252,670.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package. Benefits include company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans*.
