Job Title: Director of Data Analytics

Summary of Position: This position provides data analysis and reporting leadership for the Indiana Wesleyan University National & Global teams with principal assignment to Strategic Enrollment & Partnerships. The position also provides data analytics support for the Chancellor’s Office, Learner Success, and Academic Affairs. The position works with the business units and IT to identify and prioritize data projects, conduct complex analyses, and develop and maintain analytical solutions (e.g., datasets, queries, dashboards, and reports). Further, the position advises senior leadership on data trends and develops summaries, plans, and proposals pursuant to this analysis.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Data Management
    • In collaboration with the Salesforce team and university IT, supports the development and maintenance of university data systems utilized for reporting and analytics within N&G, with specific attention to Salesforce, external marketing data, and Colleague (i.e., Student Information System)
    • Performs quality assurance activities in coordination with these teams
  • Data Collection
    • Develops complex queries and data collection solutions from primary and secondary sources
    • Develops data marts, views, and dataflows to support N&G analytical and reporting efforts
  • Data Analysis
    • Uses statistical tools to identify, analyze, and interpret patterns and trends in complex data sets to support trend analysis, diagnosis, and prediction
    • Supports forecasting, lookalike personas, factorial analysis, and other statistical modeling to support enrollment, retention, and other N&G efforts
    • Prepares written reports to summarize data and provide recommended action plans
  • Data Visualization & Reporting
    • Develops high-fidelity visualization and reporting tools within PowerBI, Salesforce CRM Analytics, and other university tools
    • Ensures the accuracy of reports and works with N&G business units and IT to expand and maintain these resources
  • Performance Tracking
    • Support N&G teams in developing data-informed performance tracking systems
    • Collaborates on designing and tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) to include metrics that assess marketing, enrollment, funnel, engagement, and retention performance
  • Analytical Consulting
    • Based on data analytics, advises senior leadership on data trends
    • Presents data trends in leadership meetings and other public settings
    • Summarizes trend data in professional reports and develops recommendations for interventions and organizational adjustments
    • Prepares plans and proposals in collaboration with senior leaders
  • Team and Culture
    • Models the cultural mindsets and values of the university
    • Exhibits the qualities of a high-performance team member
    • Exhibits creativity, strategic thinking, planning, execution, and leadership qualities

Qualifications: According to Indiana Wesleyan University employment policy all employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement.


Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required with preference for individuals with data analytics and statistical training and education
  • Master’s degree preferred in business, data analytics, finance, or a related field

Experience

  • At least one year of work experience as a data analyst, including complex queries, analysis, and dashboard development
  • Preference is for individuals with work experience using the following tools: Microsoft SQL, Microsoft PowerBI, Salesforce (including base program and CRM Analytics), and SPSS

Required Skills

  • Technology skills related to querying (e.g., SQL), reporting and visualization (e.g., PowerBI or Tableau), and statistics (e.g., Python, SPSS, Stata, or R)
  • Data skills, including:
    • cleansing
    • querying and preparation
    • analysis and exploration
    • visualization
  • Working knowledge of descriptive and inferential statistics
  • Excellent communicator, both oral and written, with demonstrated ability to write professional reports and communicate orally to leadership and large groups
  • Personal discipline to manage multiple, complex, and concurrent projects
  • Ability to meet deadlines with competing demands, and responsibilities in a demanding work environment
  • Ability to adjust to changing priorities
