Director of Engineering, Data

We are hiring a Director of Engineering to help us scale out our data engineering team and data infrastructure. Healthcare data is notoriously difficult and inaccurate, our engineers are building a data platform to manage, integrate and distribute the most accurate provider directory and healthcare data assets in the industry. We need a leader to help set a vision for what this platform can become, both internally across our organization, as well as externally for our diverse client base. We are looking for someone who wants to manage and grow a high performing data engineering team, explore and scope major architectural decisions with our Engineering leadership, and to push relentlessly toward our mission - to power all healthcare decisions to be high quality, cost effective, and convenient.

What we’re looking for in this role:

  • Leader and Mentor: You care deeply about the people you work with and have demonstrated the ability to bring out the best in other engineers and set them up for success.
  • Technical Experience and Scaling: You’ve developed and scaled critical data infrastructure at previous organizations. You understand short term and long term tradeoffs and can help our teams plan accordingly.
  • Ownership Mentality: You build data products the organization can trust and rely on. You’ll make sure all internal stakeholders have simple, intuitive data access and an ability to query data effectively so they can power better healthcare decisions for patients.

Your day to day:

  • Leadership: You are a leader for the data engineering organization. You will be a culture builder that helps the team adopt engineering best practices. You will also be responsible for hiring and growing this team.
  • Planning & Vision Setting: You are responsible for the outcomes of your team. You’ll help set a vision for our Data Platform team and orient the team around the execution of this vision.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally: You will often be the representative of the data engineering team and you will work cross-functionally across the org to achieve greater business objectives.
  • Explore and troubleshoot technical gaps: You will keep a critical eye on our technical strategy, identify gaps, and come up with creative solutions.
