Director of Enterprise Applications and Lawyer Productivity Solutions

The Director of Enterprise Applications and Lawyer Productivity Solutions is part of the Information Systems leadership team, working in close partnership with Information Systems directors, managers and staff. This Director has lead responsibility for all aspects of the firm’s end-user software computing environment including the development and adoption of application platform strategies, road maps, and solutions. This includes centralized and regional applications, commercial and custom, as well as integrations and data flows. The position oversees all software operations, including upgrades. maintenance and implementations. The position serves as a firm-wide change management leader with responsibility for successful adoption and maximizing efficiency. In addition to Applications, this position oversees Cloud Management and Programming managers and staff in all regions with workforce management and succession planning. This position is responsible for substantial operating and capital budgets and reports directly to the CIO. This position interacts frequently with managers and directors from other departments in all offices, as well as with senior Firm management, partners and associates. This position has the primary relationship with key outside vendors, third parties and consultants. A clear understanding of data governance, risk and security is also required, and this position and works closely with the firm’s IT Compliance and Security teams to support an information security culture and practices required to maintain ISO27001 certification.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Leadership, Development and Strategy:
o Oversees all aspects of the firm wide software environment, including all data centers and offices; licensing; and applications, cloud management, and programming staff in all regions
o Responsible for strategic planning of business productivity software systems, desktop operating systems, database systems, development platforms, cloud architecture, including budgeting and management
o Lead responsibility for the Microsoft current and future strategy for the Firm including but not limited to Azure management and Office 365 with its various productivity and collaboration tools
o Develops and maintains relationships with external IT vendors and service providers. Serves as the primary vendor contact for core applications including but not limited to Microsoft, iManage and Litera
o Coordinates all software and application strategy and projects with the planning and projects of the Director of Information Systems Operations
o Collaborates with Practice Group Managers, KM team members and business service leaders to develop and implement innovative systems and processes which align with their needs
o Stays abreast of new technology in all responsible areas to ensure that the Firm is using technology that improves efficiency
o Effectively facilitates meetings at IS and organizational level
o Works with the CIO to implement business plans with impact on business results

Programming and Development:
o Lead responsibility for the Firms Programing and Development team supporting a large SharePoint environment including the Intranet and multiple KM and practice group databases and applications; a SQL farm supporting multiple enterprise applications; bespoke application development using various platforms; and all PowerBI reporting services

Applications:
o Lead for the Applications team which is responsible for the design, configuration, security, support and maintenance of the firm’s desktop infrastructure; Active Directory architecture, desktop security footprint; enterprise applications, remote application and hybrid environment; and practice group legal technology applications including all cloud-based solutions. This team is also responsible for the delivery solutions using various technologies

Cloud:
o Lead for the Cloud team which is responsible the designing, implementing, securing and managing the Firm's Azure cloud computing environment which includes but is not limited to the support of the platforms for O365, Teams, Intune/SCCM. This team works closely with other IT groups on the services that that are responsible for including networking and operations

Governance, Compliance and Risk Management:
o Business Process Owner for multiple ISO Services, currently Active Directory, Client Collaboration, and Document Management for ISO certification
o Ensures all third-party software reviews adhere to the Firm’s security standards working with the security group on analyzing any risks
o Ensures all third-party software configuration and deployment follow the Firm’s governance and compliance rules
o Ensures all custom application development adheres to the Firm’s security standards


Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree required in computer science or related field.

Experience: Ten or more years of progressive IT experience, including experience in a multi-office environment with remote primary data centers. This Director must maintain an active involvement with peer groups, and a working knowledge of competitors’ use of technology.

Skills & Abilities: This Director must have a demonstrated ability to lead teams of technical staff and manage multiple concurrent projects. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are needed. Strong project management skills and the ability to project and meet deadlines are critical. Excellent problem-solving, analytical, evaluative and budgeting skills are required. Ability to work under stress with interruptions and tight deadlines, demonstrate creativity and flexibility, ability to use independent judgment, financial acumen, ability to assign and delegate work, solve problems, answer questions and evaluate results of performance in a realistic way. Strong familiarity with dominant and upcoming products and vendors in the business productivity, electronic content management, knowledge management and custom development markets as pertain to Information Systems operations for large law firms. All positions require punctuality and regular in-office attendance. This is not a remote position.

The actual salary offered will be based on a number of factors including but not limited to the qualifications of the applicant, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
New York Salary Range
$225,000—$275,000 USD
