Position Name: Director of Industrial Operations
Location: Troy, Michigan

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee, coach, mentor, build-up, and efficiently lead the industrial operations including, industrial engineering and quality departments in the North American region. This is done in close coordination with the Corporate HQ functions. The scope includes existing and future plants in the region and the regional US headquarters. Staff includes the Plant Managers and the Regional Managers of Industrial Engineering and Quality.
  • Responsible for the overall cost/delivery/safety performance KPIs and the continuous improvement of plant industrial operations for North America. This includes management of industrial engineering processes. Must ensure adherence to HBPO procedures and standards in order to support successful plant/program launches and serial production programs. Work with HR/H&S on improving safety in the region.
  • Lead, develop, and mentor the Plant Managers and the Regional Managers of, IE & QM
  • Lead risk mitigation and problem-solving activities with the plant managers, IE, QM & EHS teams. This includes direct interfacing at times with customers, suppliers, and partners.
  • Establish, document and continuously optimize resource planning, management of internal / external audit execution and the resulting corrective actions
  • In coordination with HR Director, oversee the implementation and enforcement of regional health & safety standard practices in accordance with PO standards and any mandatory governmental regulations in collaboration with EHS.
  • Ensure efficient, targeted usage of financial and human resources in all plant operational activities.
  • Ensure efficient, targeted usage of financial and human resources in all IE activities. Reduce waste in all programs and launch processes and activities
  • Support advanced commercial quotations, staffing and capex estimations and process flows
  • Assist in providing monthly variance explanations – budget, forecast, to actuals as required. This includes financial KPIs and Balance Scorecard reporting.
  • Lead, plan and execute special assignments from the President of HBPO North America and/ or the Global Director IE
  • Assist with Labor union negotiation strategies for North American facilities
  • Responsible for overseeing and improving existing and start-up of Injection Molding Facilities, including the health & safety of IMM process.
  • Support in close collaboration with FC, the preparation of the business plan and rolling forecasts for the North American plants (existing & planned) including the related KPI target setting, capital expenditure targets, and cost reduction initiatives

Profile Required:

  • Bachelor or Master’s Degree in Engineering, Management, Business Administration or equivalent
  • MBA or related degree preferred
  • Minimum 15 years’ experience in Industrial Operations of which 10+ years automotive industry
  • Of which minimum 10 years in a senior leadership role including personnel supervision, preferably multi-site across North America
  • Experience in automotive Quality Systems and Health & Safety
  • Experience in Just-in-Sequence manufacturing processes
  • Experience in Industrial Engineering and Logistics
  • Experience in running and starting up injection molding facilities

Skills & Abilities:

  • Proven track record of successfully mentoring, coaching and leading multiple departments within an organization
  • Very organized, strong analytical skills.
  • Proven problem-solving skills, mediation skills
  • Entrepreneurial experience and high motivation to create, implement, enforce and continuously improve cross-functional business processes and standards together with other departments and other sites
  • Experience in a multi-cultural environment is required
  • Knowledge of customer specific requirements
  • Committed team player with motivational drive, flexible and dynamic approach
  • Proven leadership skills

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $170,000.00 - $185,000.00 per year
