Director of Operations - Aerospace Manufacturing

We are seeking a talented Director of Operations to drive strategic planning, capital investment, material movement, and continuous improvement initiatives with a focus on quality, delivery, customer satisfaction, cost, inventory, and Environmental Health & Safety initiatives.

As one of the two Director of Operations within Albany Engineered Composites in Salt Lake City, you will report directly to our General Manager and have the opportunity to develop and execute plans and strategies for all manufacturing operations across the business. This includes activities such as strategic planning, capital investment, operations management, material movement, and adopting Lean Enterprise principles to enhance quality, delivery, customer satisfaction, continuous improvement, cost efficiency, inventory management, and environmental health and safety.

What You'll Do:

As the Director of Operations, you will lead a team of Value Stream Managers, ensuring the timely and cost-effective production of our products for customers. Your expertise will be crucial in interpreting and recommending modifications to company-wide policies and practices. Furthermore, you will be responsible for developing manufacturing policies and procedures that align with our objectives.

The decisions you make in this role will have a significant impact on the overall success of your area of accountability. You will engage with senior management and other stakeholders on matters of great significance to the company. Additionally, you will conduct business and technical briefings for senior and top management, as well as external representatives.

In this role, you will:

• Ensures the company's commitment to maintain a safe workplace and to protect the environment through the establishment and support of Company policy and adherence to various government regulations.
• Directs the manufacturing operations of the business to ensure the manufacture of products at the lowest possible cost with the highest quality.
• Defines the strategy of manufacturing operations in conjunction with managing the execution of medium-term and short-term operational goals.
• Responsible for forecasting production-related labor and facilities requirements, effective coordination between Manufacturing Operations and the other departments involved in producing goods and the maintenance of production equipment.
• Develops a high performance team by working with Operational and Technical staff to include, but not limited to, hiring, staff development, counseling and corrective action, training, performance evaluation and motivation.
• Promote continuous improvement through employee involved work teams and use of visual controls.
• Special projects and miscellaneous duties, as needed or assigned

Our Ideal Candidates:

Our ideal candidate for this role will have a strong background in Aerostructures and be a relentless and results-driven performer with a Continuous Improvement mindset. They will have demonstrated problem-solving skills and experience with manufacturing practices such as SPC, Flow Charts, standardized work, and KAIZEN.

Additionally, they will have the ability to lead a diverse workforce and provide an effective and efficient work environment, as well as manage multiple projects simultaneously under frequently changing priorities.

• Bachelor's Degree engineering or business. Master's in Business preferred
• 10+ years of technical/manufacturing experience in a manufacturing environment.
• 5+ years senior level operational leadership experience
• Ability to lead a diverse workforce and provide an effective and efficient work environment.
• Ability to direct and manage multiple projects simultaneously, under frequently changing priorities.
• Ability to operate under tight deadlines, schedules and cost pressures.
• Aerostructures experience preferred.
• Demonstrated problem solving, manufacturing practice applications (e.g., SPC, Flow Charts, standardized work, KAIZEN, etc.).
• Proven experience in influencing, leading cross functional teams and driving change results orientation.
• Demonstrates personal leadership skills; high performance behavior, self-initiative, excellent work ethic, exercises good judgment, influencing, negotiation and collaboration
