Product at Morning Brew

The product team at Morning Brew consists of product management, engineering, and product design. We are a group of thoughtful individuals who thrive in a fast-paced environment, have a bias to action, strive to learn from each other, and level up ourselves and our teammates every day. We are a lean team within a growing organization, which means that each person is empowered with a large area of ownership and is expected to flex to help the team when emerging opportunities arise. The three pillars of product collaborate closely in pods, working to build and ship products in an agile fashion (though we are hardly purists!). We set lofty but attainable goals, and expect the highest quality of work from ourselves and each other.


Overview

Morning Brew is looking for an experienced product management leader to join our incredible Product team. You will be responsible for managing, developing, and coaching a team of talented product managers, and have the passion and experience to do just that. You will be part of leading the transformation of our product organization to product-led, and collaborating with both Product team leads and leaders across the organization to understand and prioritize business needs.


You have a bias to action and thrive in a fast paced environment. You can communicate exceptionally well in remote environments and are passionate about solving problems for our users. You are excited to be part of leading this next chapter or Morning Brew’s evolution. This role reports to the VP, Product. 


Here’s what you’ll be working on:

-Manage, develop, and mentor a team of smart, ambitious, and collaborative product managers (currently 5) both individually and collectively

-Shape product priorities and the broader product vision of Morning Brew with VP Product and key stakeholders

-Deeply collaborate with Director of Engineering and Director of Product Design in leading the product team on a day-to-day basis and in continuously improving Agile processes

-Partner with non-product department leads in understanding and prioritizing larger initiatives and quarterly priorities and goals

-Own and manage quarterly and annual product roadmaps, in concert with product managers

-Organize sprint goals, high-level backlogs, and planning in partnership with product managers and teams

-Serve as an individual contributor on urgent and high-profile product initiatives

-Manage contract negotiation and ongoing relationships with third-party providers

 

What makes you qualified?

-At least 5 years of experience working in product management 

-At least 3 years of experience managing product managers

-Experience in and passion for developing PMs 

-Empathetically collaborative, with strong verbal and written communication skills

-Strong problem-solving abilities, with an eye towards critical thinking

-Experience managing technical and non-technical stakeholders across an organization

-Passionate about creating approachable, innovative, user-first experiences

-Insanely organized, with a keen attention to detail

-Excited to join a fast moving, fast growing company

-Experience in, or a deep understanding of, the media industry
