Summary:
The purpose of this position is to provide direction, guidance, and troubleshooting assistance to the Fresh Meats BU in reference to Rendering functions both operational and mechanical to help maintain optimal performance and focus on continuous improvement efforts.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Manage and facilitate the collection, distribution, and tracking of analytical data for all Fresh Meats rendering management teams.

Review and identify areas of opportunity and best practice within that data set to provide the Fresh Meats rendering management teams with direction and guidance.

Identify larger capital projects and develop payback for the projects to support the desired IRR % for the Fresh Meats BU.

Work together with different departments within the Fresh Meats BU (accounting, operations, maintenance) to collaborate on the capital projects to ensure that all departments understand and agree to the scope and payback of each project.

This position will manage the corporate Rendering Food Safety Plan and the corporate Rendering Quality plan. These duties would include providing direction and guidance to the Rendering Food Safety Operations Specialist for plan management, annual assessments, plant training, customer audits, and all other items pertaining to these programs that may be presented.

This position will manage and facilitate the regulatory items associated with the Fresh Meats rendering department to include annual inspections from the USDA-APHIS offices. These duties would include providing direction and guidance to the Fresh Meats Rendering management teams, assisting with the completion of the required documents to obtain annual approval, working with the USDA-APHIS departments to provide all needed revisions to documents and answer any questions regarding the approvals, and all other items pertaining to the regulatory items that may be presented.

This position will assist with identifying Fresh Meats rendering opportunities and identify best practices in the rendering departments at the Fresh Meats facilities by scheduled plant visits and working with the rendering management teams as determined by need or request.

This position will manage the Fresh Meats BU facility Tasco (TASCO is a machine shop that does rebuilds on rendering equipment). This would include providing direction and guidance to the Tasco management team on setting metrics, developing a business plan, and working towards the continued service to our customers (internal and external) while expanding the current business.

Understanding the operational and mechanical aspects of each rendering process at each Fresh Meats facility is a must. This is necessary to help drive performance and best practice throughout the Fresh Meats BU while identifying and developing new processes to help facilitate continuous improvement efforts.
Requirements:
Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred, OR equivalent relative work experience
Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in the rendering industry. Previous experience leading successful teams.
Computer Skills: Strong computer skills required. Ability to use different programs like Microsoft Word and Excel are a must.
Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills required.
Special Skills: Must have a working knowledge of rendering systems operationally and mechanically. Capability to manage multiple projects of different magnitudes.
Supervisory: 5 (direct reports are off-site Team Members)
Travel: up to 60%
