Responsibilities
The Director of Social Media is responsible for developing, overseeing, and maintaining all social media channels for theCollege's 17 Division I athletics teams and the department's main social media channels. This position will provide anintegrated strategy to advance the Saint Mary's Athletics brand through social media. Work closely with the Director ofMarketing and the Director of Digital Media to produce content and execution to enhance recruiting, fan engagementand exposure.

1. Coordinate & manage the department's social media accounts. Implement a yearlyplan to best promote the athletic department and all 17 teams. Daily oversight of thesocial media calendar and strategy.

2. Assists in the development and management of student interns; provides instructionand direction to students to further promote the athletic departments message throughsocial media.

3. Advises coaches, staff and all departmental account administrators on best socialmedia practices and college brand standards.

4. Tracks the success of new initiatives by gathering input from various sources;applying statistics; implementing improvements; providing clear and concise reports.Advances SMC Athletics' brand by recommending social media opportunities thatsupport current branding initiatives and actively monitoring trends in social media.

5. Promotes accurate and positive information about SMC Athletics by closelymonitoring social networking sites and responding quickly and strategically to questionsand comments.

6. Know, recognize, and comply with the laws, policies, rules, and regulations governingthe College and its employees, and the rules of the National Collegiate AthleticAssociation (including, but not limited to, NCAA Bylaw, Article 11 and its requirement toreport all athletically-related income and benefits from sources outside of the College tothe President) and of the West Coast Conference as now constituted or as may beamended in the future. Supervise and ensure that any assistants and any otheremployees and/or volunteers for whom you are administratively responsible complywith the aforesaid policies, rules and regulations. Immediately advise the Director ofAthletics if you have reasonable cause to believe violations, whether by employees orstudents, have occurred or will occur.

Experience and Qualifications
Education: REQUIRED: Bachelor's PREFERRED:

Experience: Minimum of one year of relevant experience in sports marketing, social media or a related field.

Skills/Abilities: Proficiency with word-processing software and database management.Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, PhotoShop and Microsoft OfficeMust have excellent writing skills.Strong interpersonal skills with ability to effectively communicate with a diverse community of students, faculty, coaches,administrators, and staff.Ability to represent the Department and the College to off-campus constituencies, including alumni, friends, and businesspeople.
