Job details

Director of Supply Chain and Manufacturing - Louisville, CO

Founded in 2017, Phantom Auto is a company capable of remotely monitoring, guiding, and driving vehicles from thousands of miles away. Our technology is like Zoom for the physical world, and our customers are bestowing that same remote work privilege on their employees that formerly had to be physically inside vehicles to operate them.

We are an energetic and passionate team on a mission to build the future of remote operation. At Phantom, every day is a unique adventure as we work with the world’s leading automation companies. Because we work with customers globally, we have the unique opportunity to work with many incredible vehicles and use cases.

As an early team member, you will be instrumental in defining the foundations of our product and culture. If you are determined to take on the world’s most complex challenges and help build an industry-defining company, this is the opportunity for you.

As the Director of Supply Chain and Manufacturing, you will lead the Purchasing teams, Inventory teams, and Manufacturing teams responsible for executing the Phantom Supply Chain strategy. In this role, you will work closely with our Finance, R&D, Product, and Legal teams to develop the processes and user stories, and requirements, collaborate with technical teams and suppliers and ultimately deliver commercially viable solutions to our customers.

The ideal candidate will be an expert who has overseen the scaling and building of complex supply chains, including both purchasing and contracting as well as manufacturing and quality controls. You have worked closely with R&D, Finance, and Quality to help influence design and processes, and you have worked closely with aftermarket teams to improve your processes. Our solutions are meant to create value and be used; not to look good on paper. Cost saving and Quality are top of mind, you have a track record achieving both of those in your past. You collect data and metrics to prove and sometimes disprove, your assumptions and decisions and you keep your ego away from influencing our results.

Top Personal traits:

  • Self-starter: We are looking for people to take initiative and take command as needed. In Supply Chain and Manufacturing, you will have to think years ahead and act accordingly, without being told.
  • Ability to set direction in an ambiguous environment: As a Director, you are constantly challenged to find the right balance, and sometimes there are no right answers that will please everyone. You need to be able to understand the trade-offs and set direction for the wider team.
  • Collaborator & Communicator: In this role, you will work closely with suppliers and internal partners. You identify win-win situations and leave a trail of fans behind you. You will ensure that people understand the scope of activities.
  • Positivity: You understand that sometimes it rains, and sometimes it snows. You inject energy into your team, and you keep your spirits high even when faced with setbacks. You learn from mistakes, but you know they are a part of life. If life was easy, you’d be bored!
  • Thinking in terms of scale: Building and replicating one unit is not important. Ten is a good start. But we need you to think of how our processes could replicate in the hundreds if not thousands of units. We need to set a high bar and avoid sub-optimizing for quick but detrimental results.

Responsibilities:

  • Managing the Phantom Supply Chain & Manufacturing teams.
