This role leads a team that is responsible for developing and deploying new technologies with Evonik chemistries. This role will advance and promote products from a technical readiness level of 3 and beyond.
Using Evonik chemistry and develop technologies which can be applied for gas separation and treatment. The focus is to develop new set of technologies around oil & gas, carbon capture, sequestration and utilization(CCUS), Hydrogen economy and other topics like bio gas and circular plastic economy markets. The Technology team, along with Engineering, also supports many business lines within Evonik with application support for their products which requires process designs and deployments. NA TD head’s responsibility is to manage and provide guidance for resources needed to support such application deployment and develop product/technology references in the industry. This aspect of technology deployment is focusing on other non-gas separation related technology topics which are important for Evonik and can provide significant value to Evonik in the further. This position requires individuals in the team to look for new ideas and materials within Evonik or externally which can be further deployed within Evonik for their captive use.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Technology Deployment North America position has three major responsibilities:
Head of Advanced Gas Processing : Evonik has developed technology platforms and Advanced Gas Processing which is designed to use Evonik chemistry and develop technologies which can be applied to gas separation and treatment. The focus for this program is to develop new set of technologies around oil &gas, Carbon capture, sequestration and utilization(CCUS), Hydrogen economy and other topics like bio gas and circular plastic economy markets. The head of AGP is responsible to direct new technology development in these markets via internal pilot plant development or tie up with external partners to set up joint development agreements in maturing and deploying such solutions driven approach. AGP head is responsible to align with different business lines and product line heads to position their products which are at Technology Readiness Level(TRL) 3 and requires complete commercialization level(8) via Technology development path. Evonik has many materials and chemistry for different gas separation and treatment like membranes, amines, adsorbents and catalyst. This position will prioritize key materials which can provide overall larger value to Evonik in terms of growth and differentiating technology. This position is also responsible to drive internal Advance Gas Processing program development efforts by collaborating with Business Lines and supporting internal deployment around sustainability and goals to address net zero target. This person will also provide regular project progress and capital budget estimates to main TE function in Germany.
The position is supported in this team via program manager and process experts(2).Itwill also leverage other team members who are senior engineers in this team for the successful field deployment. This personwill also be responsible for project budget and deliverables on yearly basis.This position will also rely on other TE resources to address program and project resource requirements as needed. The goal is to accelerate technology development to commercialization via smart way of deployment adding maximum differentiating technology solution with greater value to Evonik.
Application Development:
Technology and Engineering team also supports many business lines within Evonik with application support for their products which requires process designs and deployments. NA TD head’s responsibility is to manage and provide guidance for resources needed to support such application deployment and develop product/technology references in the industry. This position requires to regularly analyze application development activities with individual team members in this team and provide guidance and support as needed. The application development is mostly related to specific business lines like membranes, amines etc. This position also requires to develop yearly budget and resource forecast to align with Business lines and get funding approval upfront to manage these resources on month to month basis. This position also ensures that all team members supporting application development are developing new process simulation ideas, relative data and overall working on tangible application for Business lines.
The goal for this position is to make sure business lines see value in TE Technology Application support function.
Technology Deployment :
This aspect of technology deployment is focusing on other non gas separation related technology topics which are important for Evonik and can provide significant value to Evonik in the further. This position requires individuals in the team to look for new ideas and materials within Evonik or externally which can be further deployed within Evonik for their captive use. The deployment strategy can also be collaboration with external parties to jointly develop deployment by holding stronger interest for Evonik. The idea is to focus and drive appropriate technology deployment topics to next level and generate higher value for Evonik in the near to long term future, This also requires partnering with Business lines , global sustainability and Evonik production plants to find new opportunities where new and differentiated technology solutions, Evonik or non Evonik, add differentiating value.
REQUIREMENTS

Bachelors, Masters or PHD in Chemical or relevant engineering with at least 13 years of industry experience

Prior 5+ years of experience in Energy /Oil and Gas industry. Primarily in gas separation and processing.

Prior 4+ years of experience in technology development and deployment

Ability to prioritize and develop near term, mid-term and long-term technology deployment roadmap

Prior experience and having strong ability to understand and articulate technology value in various energy value chains

Ability to understand complex technology and simplify into deployment programs
