THE OPPORTUNITY

The Director, Paid Search Engine Marketing (SEM) will lead paid search engine marketing funnel development activities. This role carries a quarterly qualified sales lead quota that delivers pipeline for WorkBoard's growing sales team. To achieve the goal, you will develop and implement a compelling portfolio of high impact search campaigns across our key demographic segments, regions, and verticals.


COMING IN

  • BA/BS in marketing, business or related fields
  • 6+ years of hands-on Search Engine Marketing (SEM) experience, with 3+ years in a B2B organization
  • Extremely high-level, detailed eye for execution in day-to-day campaign management
  • Rich experience optimizing bids based on deep-funnel KPIs like pipeline and bookings
  • Deep understanding of how the core platforms, tools and algorithms (e.g. Google Ads, Microsoft Ads) work
  • Current and deep hands-on skills with all dynamic ad features in AdWords, including Responsive Search Ads and Dynamic Search Ads as well as effective targeting by device, channel, audience and other means
  • Comprehensive data analysis and problem solving skills; able to draw conclusions and with guidance, you are able to devise strategic recommendations based on findings
  • Excellent skills with your toolset: Excel (formulas, pivot tables, macros and beyond), Google Analytics or other website analytics platforms; SEM platforms a bonus
  • Experience running performance focused remarketing display and YouTube campaigns a big plus

YOU'LL BE SUPER SKILLED AND EFFECTIVE AT

  • Developing and executing strategies for Paid Search campaigns, including developing strategic roadmaps, test plans, and risk/benefit analysis; as well as analyzing results and developing actionable insights
  • Aligning campaign strategy, performance objectives, and opportunities to accelerate business outcomes
  • Performing day-to-day campaign activities for enterprise level Paid Search (PPC) campaigns, including: bid management, budget allocation, forecasting, performance monitoring, strategic testing, campaign expansion, etc.
  • Collecting and analyzing data from search engines and internal sources (Google Analytics, SFDC) to maximize ROI in paid search campaigns
  • Running A/B tests to uncover new opportunities for performance improvement across paid search campaigns
  • Demonstrating thought leadership and professional communication skills by developing and delivering materials such as presentations, Point of Views, business cases, and performance reports
  • Researching keywords, writing compelling ad copy, efficiently building out thoughtfully-organized campaigns; and will have an opinion of what else goes on the list of "important SEM motions."
  • Effectively communicate strategy and results to marketing leadership in reports and meetings, not just keywords, copy, and placements, but also creative and landing page strategy
  • Continually and thoughtfully educate yourself on strategies and best practices in SEM and other paid advertising channels

WITHIN ONE MONTH YOU'LL

  • Attend a new-hire immersion training to build a deep understanding of our buyers, their pain points, and our solution offering
  • Familiarize yourself with the Marketing OKRs, key pieces of marketing collateral, and the go to market strategy
  • Learn the systems, processes, and vendors we use to power our sales and marketing tech stack.
  • Know where all search engine related data, reporting and analysis lives for Marketing and Sales, and how they're created.
  • Assess current SEM strategies and campaigns
  • Forecast this quarter's lead attainment vs plan

WITHIN THREE MONTHS YOU'LL

  • Have implemented key improvements to lead volume through SEM
  • Have developed detailed analytics on all search engine marketing efforts
  • Have created a new and/or revised SEM strategic plan
  • Set new channel targets

WITHIN SIX MONTHS YOU'LL

  • Have a full portfolio of SEM initiatives delivering consistently against targets
  • Set the annual SEM plan with targets, initiatives, and resource requirements
