About the Role
The Director of PME Strategy and Development is instrumental in creating the brand strategy and leading a team to successfully execute Congress, PME, and opinion leader tactics to meet key business objectives and brand KPIs. In this highly visible position, you will be responsible for developing the Promotional Medical Education (PME) marketing strategy and Congress Strategy for brands within Otsuka’s CNS portfolio and optimize promotional opinion leader engagement. This position has been designed for someone who is comfortable at aligning the brand team strategies and cross-functionally coordinating with key internal stakeholders (i.e. Medical Affairs, Patient Advocacy Stakeholder Management (PASM), and Legal & Compliance) to ensure tactics are aligned to brand strategy and compliant with regulations.
Job Description
  • Accountability for Results & Empowered Development
    • Lead strategic development of PME, Congress, and opinion leader marketing strategies for in-line and new assets/indications within Otsuka’s CNS portfolio
    • Consistently evaluates processes to determine better ways to do things, respecting lessons learned, but not bound by the past
    • Maintain flexibility and openness to new ideas; adapt quickly to new situations or changes
    • Hire, lead, and play an active role in developing the home office and field team to gain expertise in marketing PME tactics, TL engagement, brand strategy execution, and collaboration with cross-functional partners
    • Direct the team’s efforts to develop and communicate field promotional strategy and assets
    • Monitor field performance against KPIs
  • Strategic Thinking & Problem Solving
    • Take a holistic perspective and play a key role in driving the strategic development for peer-to-peer (P2P) promotional medical education initiatives, including innovative educational programs
    • Balance short- and long-term impacts to the broader business when making decisions
    • Synthesize information from varying relevant data sources to make timely decisions
    • Consider implications across the business, downstream and cross-stream, when making decisions
  • Respectful Collaboration & Impactful Communication
    • Manage relationship building and expansion/validation of national, regional, and local TLs to maximize impact of market insights
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment to brand strategy and delivery of high-quality tactics within timelines and budget
    • Cultivates broad collaborative partnerships to generate the best solutions
    • Manage strategic relationships and tactics creation with agencies/vendors
    • Advise internal stakeholders on portfolio efficiencies, TL engagements, advisory board participants, and other PME functions
    • Proactively seeks and incorporates diverse perspectives
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Advanced degree desirable: MBA or other relevant graduate, post-graduate degree, or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years in marketing and/or selling pharmaceutical products
  • Strong strategic skill sets including effectiveness in identifying and addressing major strategic challenges and the ability to navigate complex market environments
  • Prior experience identifying and cultivating relationships with thought leaders (TLs) / key opinions leaders (KOLs), ideally in the CNS space
  • Experience with successfully navigating PRC, strategy development and execution, and home office processes
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage matrix and cross-functional partnerships, and deliver strong results
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively across marketing teams, build alignment and drive high performance around key objectives.
  • Strong influencing and negotiation skills
  • Alliance partnership experience
  • Up to 25-50% travel is required, based upon business needs
Annual Salary :
Minimum $174,491.00 - Maximum $260,935.00, plus annual incentive: The range shown represents a typical pay range or starting salary for candidates hired to perform the work. Other elements may be used to determine actual salary such as the candidate’s job experience, specific skills, and comparison to internal incumbents currently in role. This information is provided to applicants in accordance with states and local laws.
