Director, Product Line Leadership

This is a remote position that could be based anywhere in the United States.

We are seeking passionate, energetic, and collaborative Product Management leader for our Intelligent Access Edge (IAE) solutions. The successful candidate will work in a cross functional team to identify new opportunities, create disruptive advanced Broadband Access solutions. We are seeking a leader that will know how to drive a product vision for the Access network of the future that integrates Software Defined Access tenets along with switching, routing, and subscriber management functions. This person will define viable solutions that meet customer needs and lead a cross functional team to implement them. The candidate will report to the AVP IAE Product leadership responsible for our winning E9-2 System and solution routing and advanced capabilities

Responsibilities and Duties:
Own all aspects of a product management for Layer 2 and Layer 3 Access and Aggregation products, consisting of hardware and software deliverables, product definition and roadmap, vision, strategy, partner contracts, quarterly release, positioning & pricing.
Engage with prospects & customers to deliver on the product vision, enabling customer adoption & success.
Work with product, design, and engineering teams to deliver the most advanced capex and opex efficient solutions in the industry.
Drive product decisions based on quantitative rationale & obsess with enabling services, telemetry, and insights in access to partner with our Premises and Cloud teams to deliver network automation & subscriber quality of experience.
Understand the competitive landscape in order to articulate Calix unique differentiated value and offering.
Works closely with Senior PMs and development leaders on the roadmap definition and delivery in lock steps to ensure quality of the content and the implementation, including risks assessment and change of plan.
Identify and resolve conflicts, inter-dependencies, and program issues quickly and efficiently.
Excite and motivate team members about their product vision to execute on features.
Make product tradeoff decisions and prioritize features.
Focuses on the technical aspect of product development and enhancement.
Increases the value and boosts the performance of existing products.
Conducts extensive research into products to find out how customers interact with them and to develop solutions or improvements to address those needs.
Meets with customers regarding requirements and uses research-backed data to create products relevant to the market’s demands.
Reviews processes, conducts evaluations, and measures results, ensuring they are meeting objectives, are on schedule, and within budget.

Qualifications:
Calix requires all employees based in North America who will work onsite at a Calix office, attend in-person meetings, and/or travel on behalf of Calix to be fully vaccinated. Calix will consider requests for reasonable accommodations as required under applicable law.
MS degree (or relevant/industry standard experience to match) with >10 years of Product management experience with PNL responsibility.
Proficient understanding of Communications Service Provider networks & their operational requirements.
Strong domain expertise in Networking (L2/L3) protocols and capabilities, Qualify of Services (QoS), Network security, deployment topologies and SDN/NFV.
Work experience in product leadership working with broadband service providers (BSP), enterprise & datacenter end customers.
Knowledge of service provider operations and automation needs.
Attention to detail in authoring of customer requirements, use cases and ability to articulate the value proposition as a part of product ideation/instantiation as well as go to market.

Preferred Qualifications:
Excellent leadership and communication skills.
Industry-proven product managements experience, ideally in the networking vendor space.
Exceptional presentation skills and ability to persuade others on a point of view.
Proven collaborative experience to create, maintain and grow partnerships and drive development organizations to execute product requirements.
Proven Experience in networking with specific focus in Access, Aggregation, switching, routing, and subscriber management functions virtualized or otherwise.
Proven experience in a technology organization, delivering across strategic, operational, and tactical aspects of product management
Technical competence to drive decision making with engineering organizations.
Technical strengths in Network to Cloud integrations, data networking and mass scale deployment to end users and new trends such as Edge computing and network slicing.
Demonstrable ability to think outside the box to resolve technical issues and resource conflicts.
