Director Site Development & Construction

The Team

We are seeking a Director, Site Development and Construction, to join American Tower’s U.S. Tower division’s Managed Networks team. Day to day you will lead a team that delivers new network assets, redevelops existing assets, makes capital improvements, restores networks’ post-venue renovations, supports major break/fix events, and delivers large-scale holistic programs. The team is responsible for overall project management, inclusive of budgets, construction management, and vendor management and collaborates with stakeholders to deliver high quality network builds cost effectively. The Director fosters a culture of quality and pride, delivering to customers best-in-class network builds and services by emphasizing accountability, technical proficiency, and highly responsive customer service.

What You Need to Succeed

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Construction Management or equivalent work experience required. MBA preferred.
• A minimum of 12 years of relevant wireless communications experience required.
• A minimum of 7 years of experience leading a team required.
• Knowledge of prevailing inbuilding and outdoor solutions and original equipment manufacturers/system architecture including fiber, ethernet, radio frequency, etc., preferred.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with a proven capability to work both independently and with others to solve complex problems.
• Strong written and oral communication skills; ability to present ideas and suggestions concisely, clearly, and effectively.
• Approximately 40% travel may be required to support the position’s responsibilities.
• Strong organization, planning, and project management skills; ability to prioritize tasks for yourself and a team to meet requirements and deadlines.
• Ability to work collaboratively with different functional groups to effectively and professionally achieve results.
• Strong leadership skills; ability to drive and motivate a team to achieve results.

What You Can Offer Us

• Oversee the execution of all project management, program management, and construction management activities to ensure effectiveness of end-to-end delivery in terms of timelines, budgets, and quality of build.
• Develop resource plans, evaluate capacity needs against delivery goals, and plan delivery timelines based on resources.
• Ensure the team fully understands project scope details, identify and anticipate potential risks and unknowns in meeting delivery commitments (timeline, budget and/or quality), and prepare and implement mitigation plans in partnership with key stakeholders.
• Demonstrate an understanding of and full compliance with applicable safety and regulatory requirements, construction standards, and protocols. Maintain appropriate documentation and implement a documentation retention plan.
• Demonstrate strong financial acumen to plan and manage yearly growth and redevelopment capital budgets.
• Drive operational effectiveness through efforts focused on improving processes, tools, and trainings. Identify and resolve process bottlenecks in partnership with key process stakeholders.
• Synthesize disparate data and make sound operational and business decisions, clearly articulating risks and benefits of those decisions to internal stakeholders, customers, and real estate owners.
• Maintain an accurate view of active projects at all times and provide internal and external reporting and production metrics.
• Act as the subject matter expert on all matters related to project delivery including construction; develop and refine strategies for field construction procedures.
• Partner with the Supply Chain department to develop a strategic sourcing approach and effectively manage the entire material procurement lifecycle, including forecasting, ordering, merchandise returns, etc.
• Establish strong relationships with key partners and constituents across the organization to meet goals and objectives.
• As a Director, you are responsible for the recruitment, performance management, and career development of a national site development and construction team. You’ll also cultivate a collaborative team dynamic that enables us to meet our business objectives.
