Staff Software Engineer - UI and Interactions (Full-Stack)

Discord is a leading platform connecting over 200 million users, primarily gamers, through rich, interactive communications. They are seeking a Staff Software Engineer specializing in UI and interactions to lead the development of intuitive, visually compelling user interfaces across web and mobile platforms.

Skills

8+ years of front-end development experience building rich user-centric applications.
Deep expertise in React ecosystem and libraries with eagerness to expand into React Native.
Strong design sensibility with experience creating visually compelling interfaces.
Web animations expertise for performant micro-interactions.
Knowledge of front-end performance optimization and WCAG accessibility standards.
Excellent collaboration and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Implement highly polished, pixel-perfect UIs with smooth animations and delightful interactions.
Write clean, maintainable React and React Native code adhering to performance and accessibility best practices.
Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Design, and Marketing teams to define vision and roadmap.
Provide technical leadership, mentor engineers, and guide front-end architecture and UI/UX quality.

Education

Relevant degree or equivalent education/training in Computer Science or related field preferred.
