What You'll Do

We are seeking a Display Optical Engineer who will help design and optimize Leia Inc's current and next-gen display products.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Optical modeling and optimization of display backlighting system through ray-tracing (Lighttools or Zemax)
• Collaborate with fabrication team / production team / external vendors to set up experiments for design verification
• Obtain insights from simulation and measurement results to guide next-gen design
• Invent and implement next-gen backlighting concepts

This is a position based in Menlo Park, CA

What You'll Have

• Master's degree in Optics, Physics or related field
• 3+ years experience with ray-tracing simulation software (LightTools, Zemax, etc)
• Proficiency with scripting in Matlab and/or Python
• Hands-on experience with optical testing and characterization
• Self-starter with energy and drive to work in a startup environment
• Team player with strong communication skills

Nice to Haves

• Familiarity with display optics, with knowledge of 3D / lightfield displays a plus
• Knowledge of human visual perception (color and vision science) a plus
