Position in this function serves as a compassionate, trusted, and able partner in managing schedule coordinators and ensuring clinicians schedule requests are completed efficiently and effectively.


Position in this function helps develop the technical schedule management guides for coordinators. Support communication between the schedule coordinators and internal stakeholders who need schedules changed.


If you are located in Pacific Time Zone local to Southern California, you will have the flexibility to work remotely* as you take on some tough challenges.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage Schedule Coordinators - 20% of the time
    • Supervise the Schedule Coordinators for Optum California
    • Ensure timesheets are correct and timesheet corrections submitted
    • Manage PTO requests and identify staffing needs
    • Ensure team members complete compliance training in timely manner
  • Manage schedule requests and delegation - 35% of time:
    • Distribute workload and assigns schedule change requests to schedule coordinators
    • Assures all changes to the block and schedule are in accordance with policies and alerts appropriate leadership when out of compliance
    • Outreach to care teams and clinicians to clarify any request information
    • Optimize and maintain accurate documentation of requests sent from various stakeholders (clinicians, leaders, care teams) in request tracking system
    • Serve as a resource for clinicians, clinician leaders, central leaders as we work to streamline appointing support across Optum California
    • Follow-up with schedule coordinators to ensure understanding of requests
    • Communicate to stakeholders when requests are completed
    • Take accountability for any follow - up work
  • Templates Management in Application - 30% of the time
    • Manage complex appointment scheduling templates and visit types for all Optum California
    • Assist with schedule change request as needed
  • Training Schedule Coordinator - 5% of the time
    • Work to standardize best practices in schedule template management across CDO for California
    • Develop standard processes, job aids and training materials for the department
  • Projects - 10% of time:
    • Support implementation timeline and coordination of schedule standardization and optimization
    • Coordinate with central teams to block clinician schedules for townhalls, trainings and other events
    • Help test updates to the scheduling system as needed

Required Qualifications:

  • High School/GED
  • 1+ years scheduling and health records experience in a hospital or healthcare setting required
  • Experience developing Job Aids and training others
  • Proficient with MS Office (Including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to work any shift between 7:00am to 7:00pm within these hours PST
  • Prove ability to work efficiently and responsibility in an environment with multiple demands, interruptions, and time frames, with minimal supervision


Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of UHG equivalent experience
  • Customer Service Experience
  • Experience working with Sharepoint
  • Experience sending communication to organizational leaders
  • Proficient in delegating tasks via ticketing software such as ServiceNow
  • Proven advanced problem solving and critical thinking skills that demonstrate positive outcomes

California or Washington Residents Only: The salary range for California or Washington residents is $56,300 to $110,400. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
