Monitors and screens the movement of people entering and exiting Real Estate buildings to assure the safety and security of the tenants and the building.


Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Assumes post on the main lobby and takes charge of elevators
  • Takes possession of keys and alarm activator at the beginning of the shift
  • Carries out duties in a quiet and cautious manner; helps all tenants and visitors as much as possible
  • Keeps constant watch on the movement of the elevators; checks and scrutinizes transients and strangers
  • Permits entry only if tenant identifies guest(s) in lobby or leaves names of expected visitor(s)
  • Wears burglary alarm and elevator keys at all times. Passes alarm and keys to next shift attendant at the end of shift
  • Assists tenants with bundles, baby carriages and other encumbrances as they enter and leave building
  • Stops elevator with the proper key if stranger(s) gain(s) access to elevator; immediately calls police department (911) and activates burglary alarm
  • Assists patients visiting the Doctor’s office with courteous directions and help
  • Directs traffic to the commercial spaces designated for the building
  • Checks all fire doors from time to time and ensures they are properly closed
  • Cleans the main floor area daily, including moldings, floors, paneling, rugs, furniture, etc. Constantly checks and spot clean the elevator as many times as necessary
  • Keeps ashtrays clean of refuse
  • Uses cleaning tool / supplies available in closets
  • Calls upon porters only for major jobs
  • Answers the telephone and relays any messages only in the absence of the Superintendent
  • Sits on furnished stool only, not on any lobby chair(s). Walks within and remains in the lobby at all times
  • Reports any burnt outside light bulb(s) and replaces bulb(s) if no one is available
  • Reports malfunctioning of elevators such as abnormal noises, grinding, etc. immediately investigates if cabs stay on floors longer than usual time
  • Ensures adherence to smoking policy for elevators and common lobby areas as well as the maximum capacity guidelines for elevators

Education:
High school graduate or equivalent.

Compensation

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $20.34 - $27.13 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
