DSA Market Pantry Operations Assistant

Summary

The Division of Student Affairs is seeking a Federal Work Study student worker to provide support for the AU Market Food Pantry program to mitigate food insecurity issues on campus in conjunction with the Division of Student Affairs Student Engagement team.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Stock pantry shelves and track food pantry inventory for weekly and monthly reports and inform Associate Director of low food stock.
  • Organize back end pantry client data, track food distribution.
  • Verify and update community resources to share with students in need.
  • Assist with pantry distribution days (drive-thru and in-pantry stocking and inventory).
  • Assist with preparations for Market Pantry events, both virtual and in-person.
  • Show excellent customer service to our customers.
  • Other duties assigned by Associate Director for Student Engagement.

Position Type/Salary

  • Federal Work Study
  • 15 hours per week
  • $17/hour
  • Preference given to availability during open hours of the Market or delivery/stocking time:
  • Monday: 12-7 PM (open Market)
  • Tuesday:12-3 PM (delivery/stocking)
  • Wednesday: 12-7 PM (open Market)
  • Thursday: 12-3 PM (delivery/stock)
  • Friday: 11AM-4 PM (open Market)

  • Ability to work in cold settings.
  • Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time to assist in food stocking.
  • Ability to lift, at times, 50 lbs.

Qualification Standards

  • Evidence of strong interpersonal skills, organizational skills, and effective oral and written communication/public relation skills.
  • Compassionate and engaging personality.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Familiarity with service and volunteer work.
  • Competence with Microsoft Office products, including Excel and Word.
  • Personal integrity, honesty, and the ability to maintain confidentiality.

Required Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma.
  • 6 months of work or volunteer experience.
