Dual Credit Instructors

Dual Credit Instructors will provide quality instruction of Ivy Tech courses to high school students. Instructors will meet Ivy Tech credentialing requirements and teach Ivy Tech course curriculum, standards, and objectives for eligible courses on the Ivy Tech dual credit crosswalk. Dual Credit instructors are responsible for: creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals, providing effective instruction and assessment that meets the rigor of a college classroom and meets or exceeds college and/or accreditation policies and standards
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
List of responsibilities in order of importance:
  • Meet with an assigned Ivy Tech faculty liaison (program chair) for course-specific onboarding for all new dual credit courses being taught.
  • Work with an assigned faculty liaison to select a textbook and/or to supplement an existing textbook.
  • Create a course syllabus for review and approval by a designated program chair/faculty liaison.
  • Distribute and review the syllabus to their students at the start of the course.
  • Meet or exceed the competencies listed in the course outline and assess for those competencies using course or program specific assessments aligned with those used at Ivy Tech.
  • Encourage students to complete end-of-course evaluations.
  • Engages with students in meaningful and productive ways that impact student learning and leads to a positive experience with Ivy Tech, demonstrates evidence of developing and implementing active classroom teaching strategies focused on engaging students with their learning (curricular).
  • Participate in site visits as outlined in ASOM 4.3 with assigned Ivy Tech faculty liaison/program chair.
  • Complete Part 1 and 2 of the annual Dual Credit Instructor Professional Development housed within Ivy Tech’s IvyLearn platform.
  • Respond to communications from faculty liaison/program chair and Ivy Tech K-14 staff in a timely manner.
  • Complete tasks in Dualenroll.com as needed including annual ongoing requirements of onboarding, syllabi submissions, and site visits, and confirmation of student course enrollment.
  • Assist students at the beginning of a term with registrations, completing Knowledge Assessments, and other student registrations efforts as needed.
  • Review class lists at the start of the course and work with the designated high school contact to communicate any changes to K-14 staff.
  • Submit final grades in MyIvy by the deadline set by Ivy Tech Community College.
This is not to be construed as an exhaustive list. Other duties logically associated with this position may be assigned. All responsibilities will be conducted within the parameters of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), other applicable regulatory requirements, and professional standards.
Dual Credit Instructors will meet the Ivy Tech credentialing standards for their program area and course standards according to ASOM 7.1.
