Spring 2025 Data Visualization Internship

Earthjustice’s Creative Communications team is seeking applications from undergraduate students for one part-time data visualization internship during spring 2025. This is a paid position. The successful candidate may work remotely from the U.S. or on a hybrid schedule from one of Earthjustice’s offices.

The Creative Communications team works to ensure that Earthjustice is widely recognized as an impactful leader that uses the law in the fight for justice—for the planet and its people. We do this by engaging key audiences through Public Affairs and Public Relations and using impactful data visualizations and graphics to engage audiences. The intern will help us find, detail and parse dense information to be distilled into data visualizations by our staff.
 
Responsibilities:
 
Under the supervision of Data Visualization designer: 
  • Attend communications team meetings and design team meetings when available.
  • Research potential data visualization sources and identify potential data visualization stories. 
  • Learn how to use visuals to tell a story through data.
  • Review collected data and find data sources when needed. 
Qualifications: 
  • Enrolled in an undergraduate program during spring 2025. Preference will be given to those studying Communications, Statistics, Graphic Design, or related fields.
  • Commitment of 12-15 hours/week.
  • Interest in using data to tell compelling stories.
  • An eye for compelling infographics and data visualization projects is helpful.
  • Knowledge of spreadsheet editors and software is a plus.
  • Possess a strong interest in environmental and/or social justice issues, a plus.  
  • Awareness and sensitivity to the needs and concerns of individuals from diverse cultures, backgrounds, and orientations. 
Compensation:
 
Internships at Earthjustice are paid. Undergraduate students will receive $18.67/hour, less applicable taxes.
