Compensation provided for using, not obtaining, the rating.Responsible for providing strategic guidance and advice to the firm and its affiliates on a wide variety of tax issues, primarily related to the partnership and the complexities of its structure. Lead diverse projects of substantial complexity while maintaining both a legal and business lens. Regularly operate autonomously in the face of complex issues both within and outside the usual sphere of engagement. Routinely makes decisions regarding complex, material legal issues with limited to no guidance. Consults with and advises business owners and senior leadership on regular basis. Support on any audits or other regulatory inquiries and lead forward looking planning for efficiency and flexibility.What you'll do:• Reviews, assesses, and resolves material legal issues for the firm and its affiliates and research legal questions and drafts legal documents.• Routinely makes decisions that have material impact on the firm and its affiliates.• Identifies and assesses potential liability to the firm, its affiliates, and its associates. Proposes alternatives, solutions, and mitigations when risks are identified.• Regularly and proactively identifies issues, areas needing support, or gaps and identifies the appropriate operational support to address the matters.• Communicates advice, recommendations, and findings effectively with other attorneys, professionals, associates, and leaders. Exercises judgement to proactively identify and escalate issues to the attention of appropriate leaders and stakeholders and keep them informed.• Represent the firm and its affiliates by directly working with opposing/outside counsel and state and federal regulators.• Effectively communicates legal views and position to a broad and diverse audience that includes the firm's most senior leadership.• Produces clear and concise written work product and an effective oral communicator with minimal or no input from their leader.• Handles multiple, complex matters including directing and delegating to support staff or other attorneys.• Proven ability to spot and analyze issues while formulating viable recommendations balancing multiple considerations.• Displays independent thought, exceptional judgment, and excellent decision-making.• Operates within their role with limited guidance from other attorneys.• Active and intentional listener who initiates conversations and drives them to resolution.• Exercises leadership without authority and influences senior leaders without having direct decision rights.• Understands firm strategic objectives and is able to incorporate them into their work.• Coachable with a willingness to learn.What you'll need:• Juris Doctorate (JD) - Licensed to practice law in any state in the US.• Minimum of 10 years' experience in partnership tax/subchapter K, preferably at both a law firm and in-house.• Regularly and effectively deals with issues of substantial complexity and works in tangential or new areas of the law.• Seasoned judgment on matters within their area of expertise.What will set you apart:• 11+ years of experience & Tax LLMAt Edward Jones, we are building a place where everyone feels like they belong.
