1. Responsible for various types of EEG recordings: Awake, asleep, bedside and B.D. protocol video EEGs.
2. Has experience to conduct LTM, REEG, CEEG studies.
3. Familiar with Natus, XLtek, Ceribell and other related EEG equipment.
4. Familiar with using EEG products used on patients for all types of EEG recordings
5. Familiar with Microsoft office suite and technical programs associated with EEG.
6. Must have experience working in an EEG Department for minimum of 3 years.
7. Must have experience conducting EEG recordings on Adults and Pediatric patients.
8. Must have experience conducting EEG recordings for Patients with special needs or special accommodations.
9. Must be able to conduct EEG recordings for In-patients, Out-patients and ICU.
10. Familiar with transporting EEG equipment to patient’s rooms and various departments, as required.
11. Ability to explain the procedure and equipment to patient clearly, Answers inquiries and reassures patient before and during recording in order to obtain the patient's cooperation. Provides patient privacy at all times.
12. Ability to summarize the patient's neurologic status and documents onto clinical history chart.
13. Ability to write all clinical observations during seizures and other patient emergency situations.
14. Maintains the EEG database and records.
15. Must measure Patients’ head appropriately according to ABRET standards, places electrodes properly and responsible
for EEG recording integrity. Recognizes artifacts and takes appropriate steps to eliminate from study.
16. Upon completion of EEG recording, removes electrodes, gels, residue from Patients’ scalp and cleans patient's head/hair.
17. Keeps EEG lab room clean and neat at all times. Cleans and disinfects equipment’s at all times to maintain equipment standards.
18. Logs and records completed patient recordings as per lab protocols & follows protocols required by technician.
19. Insures electrical safety of the patient at all times, performs maintenance and minor repairs of the equipment for use, and reports problems to the management team.
20. Works well with EEG department, management, residents, attending physicians and other technicians, provides assistance as necessary or when needed.
21. Participates in trainings, department meetings, technical meetings, and other educational activities as needed.
22. Has a positive attitude with patients and colleagues.
23. Ability to follow all EEG Lab protocols as directed by management team.
Requirements/Qualifications:
1. High school diploma or the equivalent and five (5) years related experience. Bachelor’s preferred.
2. Graduate from an accredited or formal certificate EEG program, required.
3. Prior EEG experience, minimum of 3 years.
4. Basic Life Support (BLS) or equivalent certification, required
5. Previous experience working as an EEG Technician in a hospital setting, preferred
6. Knowledge of Microsoft suite, Outlook, All-scripts and other office related programs.
7. Great communication skills, both written and verbal.
8. Ability to read and communicate effectively in English. (Spanish a plus)
9. Has a positive attitude, great organizational skills and works well under pressure.
