Huntsman is seeking an EHS Co-op supporting the Advanced Materials Division located in Akron, OH. This position will report to the EHS Manager.
Job Scope
Huntsman Advanced Materials is a leading global material solutions provider. Our portfolio of adhesives, composites and formulation products meet demanding engineering specifications and address customer-specific needs across a wide variety of industrial and consumer applications. Akron’s key markets include automotive, aerospace, construction and piping, electrical, abrasive paper, gaskets, industrial coatings.
This internship will encompass a variety of work projects in conjunction with the plant Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) department. The EHS Department is responsible for the development, implementation, maintenance, and oversight of plant EHS policies and programs. Personnel regularly interact with Operations, Supply Chain, Process Development, Maintenance and Site Leadership.
This internship provides an opportunity to learn more about the operation and management of a chemical manufacturing facility, especially with respect to EHS regulatory compliance. The candidate will work with Huntsman’s EHS team and will be responsible for assisting with the development, implementation, and oversight of various site EHS operations. This position involves the application of chemical and regulatory knowledge to the requirements of chemical manufacturing and process development operations.
As the EHS Co-op you will:

Review and development of EHS policies and procedures with oversight from site personnel.

Participate in Management of Change (MOC) reviews and drive change to closure.

Develop, audit, and update site EHS electronic training programs.

Perform routine EHS inspections of plant and lab operations.

Learn and perform Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) assessments.

Support Hazardous Waste documentation and tracking.
-
Review and accurately record data in compliance management system.

Support environmental sampling requirements.

Maintain document management, filing and record keeping.

Collaborate with the operations team to execute corporate audit actions, Process Safety audit action, and Process Hazard Analysis actions.

Analyze site emergency action plan and propose enhancements.
Required Qualifications:
-
Pursuing degree in Environmental Science, Safety Management, Chemistry, or Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering.

Computer literacy (Microsoft Office, Excel, Outlook).

Grade point: Minimum of 3.0.
Preferred Qualifications:
-
Prefer 3rd or 4th year student.

Excellent communication skills, good planning and organizational skills and persistence.

Self-motivated and comfortable working in a team environment.
