Job Description


The EH&S Specialist role is to coordinate and support Western Digital’s Environmental, Health & Safety programs. This position supports site wide program implementation through cross functional collaboration and cooperation.

This is a fast-paced position that requires an individual who can juggle multiple tasks, prioritize responsibilities, and support internal customers while maintaining a professional attitude. The nature of this work requires someone with a high level of intelligence, common sense, communication, interpersonal skills, and professionalism.

Job Description

Coordinate and provide key support in the delivery and reporting of the following programs/services

  • Represent site EH&S team on the Western Digital Global Resource Management Team & Sustainability Team
  • Manage/Coordinate the site ERT & MERT Teams
  • Provide EH&S support for the site Integrated Management System (IMS) activities and requirements including supporting site certifications (ISO-14001 / ISO-45001 / ISO-22301 & RBA Code of Conduct 7.0)
  • Coordination and implementation of site Environmental, Health & Safety programs
  • Participate in site inspections, work with regulators, vendors and WD business partners on resolutions and follow up

Additional Job Description

  • Support the site ergonomics program including providing training, ergo evaluations in the office & manufacturing areas and provide recommendations for ergonomic equipment
  • Document and investigate incidents involving property damage, personal injury, safety violations, near misses, unsafe conditions, and non-compliance activities
  • Participate and/or coordinate work with cross-functional teams where necessary
  • Provide EHS support to 24/7/365 wafer fab operations

Qualifications
  • Preferred A.S. degree or above in a related field, 5+ years of relevant experience in a corporate environment / experience in clean room manufacturing a plus
  • Computer savvy. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint), SmartSheet
  • General knowledge of EHS best practices and related governmental regulations
  • Knowledge and understanding of current industry standards, regulations, techniques, and equipment for performance of Environmental Health & Safety services
  • Must be organized, accurate, and detail oriented with ability to proactively follow through on assignments and tasks
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with customers, vendors, and consultants
  • Ability to interact with staff in a fast paced environment, sometimes under pressure, remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful and efficient, with a high level of professionalism
  • Ability and strong desire to work effectively as part of a team and to interact comfortably with all levels of management
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize activities in a changing environment
  • High initiative, enthusiasm, sense of urgency and energy should be clearly evident. Be both team player and independent contributor. Ability to consider “big picture” ramifications and actions
  • Must handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion and care
  • Must be flexible with changing job requirements, must be willing to work overtime when required
  • Ability to diplomatically resolve customer complaints and concerns
  • Must be resourceful and utilize knowledge of existing processes, procedures, and policies
