Electroacoustics Engineering Manager

The role, at a glance:

Biamp is seeking a technical manager with overall responsibility for the Electroacoustics team within the Engineering department. This role reports to the Vice President of Engineering and is located in-office in Chester, PA, contributing to a 50+ year history of audio excellence.

The main objectives of the Electroacoustics function are to provide engineering resources for the acoustic design and execution of professional audio products containing loudspeakers and/or microphones, and to provide expertise in sound and acoustic-related matters. The successful applicant may be an acoustics subject matter expert with a minimum of 5 years successfully managing technical teams, or a technical manager with a minimum of 7 years successful experience and expertise in a related discipline.

How you'll contribute:

  • Drive corporate continuous improvement in the design, execution, and knowledge of electroacoustics.
  • Recruit, hire and retain staff appropriate to achieve the acoustic-related objectives of New Product and maintenance projects.
  • Identify and facilitate function and team member development goals.
  • Estimate development timelines.
  • Keep pace with innovation and new technology developments in the acoustics field.
  • Collaborate with peer managers on department level improvements.
  • Translating customer requirements into technical specifications.
  • Preparing technical reports and presentations as required.
  • Supporting product management and marketing with product information.
  • Supporting product demonstrations and trade shows.

A successful candidate should have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Acoustics, or an electro-acoustic related subject such as Physics or Electronics. Master’s degree a plus.
  • 5 or more years of experience successfully managing technical teams.
  • 3 or more years of experience designing loudspeaker or other electroacoustic systems.
  • Ability to thrive in a needs-first culture.
  • A passion for audio.

Work environment:

  • Standard office hours, with some requirements for domestic and international travel to vendors and trade shows (less than 10%).
  • Routine use of standard office equipment.
  • This is an onsite position based in Chester, PA.
