Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Operations Engineer with extensive experience in Microsoft SQL Server and database administration to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing and optimizing data pipelines, ensuring the scalability, security, and performance of our relational database systems. As a key player in the data operations team, you will leverage your expertise in SQL development, ETL processes, and data warehousing to drive impactful business intelligence and reporting solutions. Key Responsibilities:

Database Administration: Manage and maintain Microsoft SQL relational databases ensuring performance, security, and integrity. Perform routine database maintenance, backups, and disaster recovery processes.

SQL Development: Write and optimize complex SQL queries for data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) utilizing SSIS. Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues.
Power BI Reporting & Dashboards: Design, develop, and deploy interactive reports and dashboards in Power BI. Utilize DAX, Power Query, and other Power BI tools to deliver insights and visualizations for business decision-making.
.NET Development & Integration: Leverage .NET (C#, ASP.NET) to integrate database solutions with internal applications and web-based platforms. Develop custom tools and applications to automate data processing, reporting, or ETL tasks.
Data Warehousing & ETL: Design and manage ETL pipelines, working with large datasets in a data warehouse environment. Implement best practices for data modeling, integration, and reporting.
Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with cross-functional teams (e.g., business analysts, product managers) to understand data needs and create tailored solutions. Communicate technical details to non-technical stakeholders.
Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance database performance, streamline reporting processes, and improve data workflows. Suggest and implement new tools or frameworks to optimize data management practices.

Qualifications:

Database Management & SQL: Strong experience in managing Microsoft SQL relational databases, writing optimized SQL queries, and managing database performance.
Power BI: Proficiency in developing reports, dashboards, and visualizations in Power BI. Experience with DAX, Power Query, and data modeling techniques.
.NET Development: Solid experience in .NET (C#, ASP.NET) for developing applications, web services, or integrations with database systems. Knowledge of MVC, RESTful APIs, and related frameworks is a plus.
Data Warehousing & ETL: Experience with data warehousing principles, ETL processes, and data integration techniques.
Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Strong ability to analyze large datasets, identify trends, and translate complex data into actionable insights.
Communication & Collaboration: Ability to collaborate with non-technical and technical teams to deliver data solutions and explain complex concepts in clear terms.
Attention to Detail: A keen eye for detail and accuracy in data management, reporting, and development.
Physical: Regularly required to sit, talk and hear, lift objects up to 25 lbs. Occasionally required to stand, walk, climb or balance, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, reach with hands or arms, grasp or pull, and lift up to 50 lbs.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field.
Experience with cloud-based database services (e.g., Azure SQL, AWS RDS, Google Cloud SQL).
Familiarity with other development tools or languages (e.g., Python, JavaScript, HTML/CSS) is a plus.
Familiarity with DevOps practices, version control (e.g., Git), and CI/CD pipelines.
Experience in Agile methodologies or project management tools.

Salary & Benefits

Wage Scale:

The wage scale for this position ranges from $[minimum amount] to $[maximum amount] per [hour/year], based on experience, qualifications and performance. Specific compensation for this role will be determined by several factors including but not limited to; minimum and preferred qualifications, knowledge, skills, abilities, education, experience and location.
