Embedded Software Engineer

Position’s Contributions to Work Group:

• Creation of technical specification and integration documentation for machine systems components, ECM’s and software

• Working with the machines system and sub-system teams to resolve system design and integration issues during development and production

• Support and communication of software releases, including documentation required by field follow and/or customers for successfully updating software, wiring and components

• Reporting technical status to related Electronics teams in gateway and stakeholder updates

• Coordinating software development activities and ensuring they are completed on schedule

• Test plan development and system/software validation activities

Typical task breakdown:

• A typical day for this role involves developing software within an embedded real-time operating system platform to create high value feature functionality for mining equipment.
• To achieve this the engineer must work with the software lead architect and system integration engineer to convert the high level functional requirements into an effective software design.
• The engineer will need to collaborate with various team members to insure proper functionality of the features they develop, including conducting unit and hardware in the loop testing of their features.

Education & Experience Required:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering or relevant field required.
• 2-4 years’ experience required.
• Master’s or above projects/internships can be considered toward experience requirement but durations for each must be listed on resume.

Technical Skills (Required)

• Solid programming experience in C or C++
• Knowledge of computer development software as it relates to embedded systems, such as SQL, VisualBasic, etc

(Desired)

• Hand-on understanding of controls for physical systems related to the software being developed (hydraulics, transmissions, engines, etc)
