Requirements
About the Role
- Looking for a practical, business-minded attorney with experience managing labor and employment matters, including drafting and implementing employment and human resource policies and templates, employee benefits and employee relations matters, handling employment litigation directly and/or through the supervision of outside counsel, and managing employee equity plan design and administration.
- You will report to Rokt’s General Counsel. As our first in-house Employment Counsel, you will have the opportunity to leave an immediate imprint on a rapidly growing company of 450 employees that has plans to double in size over the next 18 months.
- You will be the seventh attorney on a nine-member legal team (including two paralegals) and will have the chance to flex into other areas of the business, including commercial contract negotiation, corporate governance, litigation, IP, and data privacy, among other areas.
Responsibilities
- Provide legal counsel on any and all employment matters touching the company.
- Work closely with the People team on day-to-day employee lifecycle issues, such as hiring, leaves/accommodations, compensation and benefits, terminations and other organizational matters.
- Draft and update employment agreement and separation agreement templates across multiple jurisdictions, including NY and WA states in the US, and work closely with outside counsel on similar templates in international jurisdictions, including Australia, the UK, Singapore, and Japan.
- Manage employment litigation matters and pre-litigation employment disputes, including supervising outside employment counsel and interfacing with EPL insurance providers as appropriate.
- Remain up-to-date on all relevant employment laws and regulations to ensure an ongoing ability to provide excellent legal advice.
- Provide concise and commercially astute counsel to Rokt’s People team and Company leadership.
- Support the business with ongoing initiatives including compliance, process improvement, template development and training.
Requirements
- 6+ years of relevant legal experience at a top-tier law firm and/or in-house (experience at a high-growth tech company and/or public company is a plus)
- JD and a strong academic background.
- Project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and process a high volume of work in a timely and accurate manner with high attention to detail.
- Ability to problem solve in an efficient, business-friendly, creative manner.
- Collaborative, team-oriented approach to working with colleagues.
- High degree of initiative, dependability and ability to work with little supervision in a fast-paced environment.
- A global perspective, and cross-cultural sensitivity.
- Strong work ethic and a good sense of humor a must!
