Engineering Technician

Job Description:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Working alongside engineers to design, build, test and troubleshoot solutions to a variety of technical problems
• Using CAD software, design, implement and improve components and systems under engineering oversight
• Run tests, diagnostics, and calibrations to various equipment using documented procedures
• Inspecting inventory and reordering materials and technical components as requested by engineers
• Communicates issues with third party equipment vendors as needed to expedite troubleshooting and repair
• Authors accurate documentation for the operation and maintenance of various test equipment
• Assembles, inspects and tests all electronic components being used for product assembly, per assembly instructions and wiring diagrams
• May work from limited or no documentation. Investigates, compiles data, documents and recommends changes to enhance prototype or product performance under the guidance of engineers
• Read and interpret Engineering Drawings, Schematics and Bill of Materials
• Data entry and computer navigation skills, including Microsoft products
• Maintain logs, provide daily status reports, maintain records and organize test data

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Associate Degree
• 15+ years of relevant work experience
• Previous electronics assembly and test experience
• Previous experience with testing of optical components and with handling and testing of optical fiber assemblies
• Trouble shooting experience from board down to a component level
• Self-Motivated and able to be productive with minimal supervision
• Must be able to read and understand assembly and work instructions
• Must be able to read and understand schematics, wiring diagrams and test procedures
• Experience using Agile Methodology Tools such as JIRA and Confluence is preferred
• Team player and take direction well

For California location:

As an early startup experiencing explosive growth and tremendous opportunities for our employees. The target hourly rate for this role is approximately $30 - $70 per hour, depending on experience. The final rate offered may be slightly higher or lower than the target range, based on the final scope as determined by the depth of the experience and skills demonstrated by candidate in the interviews.
